Award-winning Doria Joins CEO Chris Brown to Lead Flagship Office
DDB Worldwide, part of Omnicom Group, today announced that Icaro Doria
has joined the agency as Chief Creative Officer of the New York office,
effective March 2015. Doria will report directly to Chris Brown, President /
Chief Executive Officer of DDB New York, who assumed his role in September
2014.
Brown commented, DDB New York is on a mission to blaze new trails and
therefore finding the right creative partner and leader was really key. Ive
been describing DDB New York as the original boutique agency and that is
why I am so excited about Icaro joining. Hes a modern creative leader with a
passion for ideas and new and innovative ways of working. Hes got fantastic
New York and U.S. experience and is a global citizen having worked in Europe,
the U.S. and Brazil. Icaro has driven outstanding creative outcomes on some
of the worlds biggest brands and he has been part of building an agency
from the ground up. His appointment helps solidify our singular mission to
create game-changing work and business ideas for our clients, and Im
confident he will be the perfect partner to help lead DDB New York into the
future.
Doria will be charged with rolling out a bold creative vision for the New York
office, and will lead the agencys entire creative department. His job will be to
ensure that DDB New York maintains its pedigree of creative excellence, while
inventing new, more nimble ways of working to generate better results for
clients.
Most recently, Doria was the Founder and Executive Creative Director of
Wieden+Kennedy in So Paulo, Brazil. Under Dorias leadership, the office
went from a kitchen table to an exciting office of 160 people, winning several
local, regional and global accounts, including Coca-Colas global effort for the
FIFA World Cup 2014, Diageos Smirnoff, TIM Telecom (Brazils second largest
mobile provider), Original Bank (Brazils largest rural bank), Heineken, Nike,
Mondelez, Philips and Coca-Colas juices portfolio.

His career spans three continents, from his native Brazil, to Portugal to the
U.S. market, where he spent six years prior to returning to Brazil with
Wieden+Kennedy. While in the U.S. he most recently served as Group
Creative Director at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco working
on the Hewlett Packard and Sprint Telecom accounts. Before that, he was at
Y&R New York where he served as Global Creative Director for Dell and
Bacardi, as well as Group Creative Director for a range of accounts including
Virgin Atlantic, Land Rover, and VH1.
When he first came to the U.S., Doria was instrumental in the creative
resurgence of Saatchi & Saatchi New York, where his work helped the agency
to win Agency of The Year at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, the
Clios Awards, the Young Guns, London International and The Art Directors
Club of NYC.
DDB has made its name around creating work that influences cultural
shifts, said Doria. The opportunity to help DDB New York do just that is
thrilling, and something I couldnt say no to. Together with Chris and the
entire team, well embark on the challenge of reinventing ourselves, while
drawing on DDBs great legacy. I cant wait to get started and see whats to
come.
Doria has been acknowledged by and judged every major industry award
show, and topped Creativitys awards ranking as the Most Awarded
Copywriter in the World in 2007.
