AIMS/OBJECTIVES:
A. Specific aims:
By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
- identify the objects from the images;
- fill in with the missing letters;
- practise their vocabulary related to Christmas.

B. Affective aims:
- to create a warm atmosphere in order to offer the background for smooth, easy conversations
between teacher and pupils;
- to help pupils become more confident when speaking English.
INTERACTION: teacher-Ss; Ss-Ss (pair work); Ss-teacher.

TEACHING TECHNIQUES: conversation, brainstorming.

TEACHING AIDS: books, students notebooks, worksheets, blackboard, chalk.

STAGES OF THE LESSON

1. Organizational moment (1)


T enters the classroom and greets the students and then asks if there are any absentees. T
student on duty tells the T if there are any.
Aim: -to assure the introductive part of the lesson.
Skills: speaking.

2. Checking homework and previous knowledge (7)


T asks the pupils about their homework checking it frontally, the individually by
verifying students notebooks. T asks questions about their homework.
T asks questions about the previous lesson, checking the acquiring of the previous
knowledge.
Aims: - to check previous knowledge
- to assure the feedback for the Ss` work at home.
- to put the Ss. in the reading situation, checking and correcting their written
production.
Skills: speaking, reading.
Techniques: conversation, explanations if necessary.

3. Warm-up activity (10)


T shows Ss some images related to Christmas. They will have to guess what each of
them represents.
Aims: - to assure the transition between the stages of the lesson.
- to revive the spirit of the class and assure a proper atmosphere for the lesson.

Techniques: conversation, brainstorming.

4. Introduction of the topic: presentation (17)


T announces the title of the new lesson: Winter celebration: Merry Christmas!
T gives each pupil a worksheet. On it, pupils have the images shown by the T and the words
related to them. Pupils have to make the correspondence between the images and the pictures.
Individually, pupils solve the next exercise, filling the spaces with the missing letters.
Aims: - to assure a proper transition and continuity between the stages of the lesson.
- to inform Ss. about the topic of the lesson.
- to guide the Ss. to the discovery of the lesson topic in order to capture their interest.

Techniques: discussion, questioning.

5. Practice (15)
T reads the text from page 86: Merry Christmas everybody!. Pupils are encouraged to
read it also to improve their pronunciation.
Pupils have learnt a song about Christmas (Jingle bells) and they sing it.
Aims: - consolidate the new vocabulary.
- improve pronunciation.

7. Production (8)
Role play exercise: Exercise 3, page 87. Pupils play in pairs the role of Santa and the
children who is asking for presents.

Aims: - practice the learnt vocabulary.

8. Assigning homework (2)

Aims:

9. Evaluation (1)
T appreciates students activity both verbally and by giving marks.
