Alignment & Compliance towards Du Pont Process Safety & Risk Management and Personnel Safety
Management Systems
Carry out Internal audit for safety management system including (PSRM/PSM/OHIH) highlighting deficiencies
and improvement plan
Prepare Road maps and improvement plans for all safety related internal/external audits

Ensure that Management of Change protocol is followed for any changes in the facility

analytical tools establish direct and indirect root causes giving effective recommendation to avoid reoccurrence

Carry out Environmental Aspect and Impact Study and ensure compliance to EPA Regulations

Preparation of Process safety leading indicators

Responsible for developing and implementing HSE Core training plan and monitoring its compliance.
Prepare management review meeting agenda, organize management review meetings and prepare minutes of

Imparting formal HSE and Operations core training to various levels including contractor work force as
per plan.

Participate in day to day incidents / near misses investigations and recommendations follow-up
Emergency handling system audit and updating
Coordination with neighboring industries to have impact assessment studies during major release of toxic
materials from surrounding plat sites to establish safety protocols incase of any of the plant gets effected

PROJECTS (EPCL):
Errection, Commissioning & Startup of EDC/VCM Petrochemical Plant:

Involved in the basic and detailed designing of EPCL safety critical devices as per OSHA and EPA guidelines
and later also devised monitoring protocol of these devices as per LHO (Low Hazard Operation) and HHP
(High Hazard Process) criteria.
Conducted and led base line, detailed and cyclic PHA of EPCL expansion and back integration project
utilizing what if, FMEA, HAZOP and RCA techniques of PHA
Represented HSE department in multiple HSE meetings of vendors, clients, supplier and in house covering
safety incidents, progress and future HSE plans
Prepare and conducted LOPA for EDC VCM plant site including hazardous facilities
Assisted in the preparation and revision of HSE documentation (such as manual, systems, standards &
procedures and other documentation).
Proactively coordinate with the certifying body on all HSE audit requirements
Prepare management review meeting agenda, organize management review meetings and prepare minutes of
meeting, represented HSE department independently
Updated process safety information (PSI) packages of EPCL expansion and back integrated project of PVC
and VCM on the basis of equipment design, process design and material hazards
Identify HSE hazards, assess risks and propose mitigation measures during operational activities and report
noncompliance to the management
Developing Commissioning safety manual for the site
Develop communication and safety protocol during commissioning and installation of Ethylene line from
EVTL to EPCL
Training and refresher of emergency protocols in case of level I and II to multiple departments and
contractors
Prepare and present agenda, progress and safety stats for management committee
Carrying out safety reviews, PHR and PSSR for major facilities prior to commissioning
Carry out analysis for safety incidents related to similar sites and train personnel
SIL and SIS studies for Plant site instrumentation verification with third party done for ESD system SIL 3
certification
Review of all procedures (S/U, S/D, Commissioning, Emergency, Trouble shooting)
Safety audits for Multiple jobs in area

Waste Water system Optimization (Lean six sigma)

Saving of 0.40 million USD/Annum by implementation of the project

Study of current system (waste water generation, handling etc)
System gaps in operation due to design and commissioning operation philosophy
Data analysis of all local draining streams (Segregation of data with respect to Hydro Carbon, water and other
chemicals)
Cost analysis for all streams locally drain as waste streams
Proposal for solution of closed loop draining and improving overall system contributing to both human
exposure and cost saving

Blow down and Condensate Recovery

Saving of Rs 0.5 million USD done in implementing this project

The project was initiated as initially taken o avoid personnel exposure to high temperature condensate latter
became part of lean six sigma project
Implementation of steam trap management system resulted in closed loop draining of condensate
Blowdown of boilers utilized as heat transfer for pre heating feed stream to distillation column resulting in
saving of 3t/hr of steam in the column

Modification and Gap Analysis of Emergency Vent Gas Scrubber

Studies and point out gap in design of vent gas scrubber which lead to poor performance of the scrubber
resulting in environmental release of HCL(gas) to atmosphere
Prepare position paper and MOC for changes in sparger size and sizing of control valve on emergency fire
water system
Post implementation no environmental release occur during utilization of VGS in emergency cases causing
zero personnel exposure

area by implementing the idea plant load was maximized and hazards were removed from area, resulting in
saving of 25k USD/day resulting in saving of 8.2 million USD per annum
