The company operates its business through six segments, namely, Value-added distribution, Supply chain solutions,
Handset protection and insurance, Buy-back and trade-in solutions, multi-channel retail solutions and Financial solutions.
Its Value-added distribution segment provides services such as distribution, channel development and management,
marketing services, manufacturing and assembly, and product development of handsets, tablets and accessories.
Brightstar offers distribution services for device manufacturers. The company provides various branded mobile devices and
related customized solutions. It has classified the devices into different categories, namely, original equipment
manufacturer (OEM) devices, customized and licensed devices, fixed wireless devices, data-centric and enterprise devices,
accessories and consumer electronics. The brands included under this category are Benq-Siemens, Kyocera, LG,
Motorola, Nokia, Sagem, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and UTSTARCOM. The traditional distribution services offered by the
company consist of product distribution, transportation and delivery services, importation management and just-in-time
delivery. Brightstar provides light manufacturing and assembly services such as contract manufacturing, consulting and
guidance, planning, coordination and execution of all startup activities, semi-knocked down manufacturing and product
customization. The company also offers sales, marketing and demand generation, which comprise of local marketing
intelligence, product portfolio management, marketing activation, and sales and channel management.
Brightstar offers Supply chain services to manufacturers, operators and retailers and supports in their business strategy. Its
supply chain services include device portfolio management, strategic sourcing and business intelligence, supply chain
optimization, forward logistics and fulfillment, inventory ownership and management and reverse logistics. It provides
device management services such as device strategy and ranging, product lifecycle management and new product
introduction. The strategic sourcing and business intelligence services offered by Brightstar comprises three modules,
which consist of strategic procurement, vendor management and new vendor introduction. The company offers three
modules in the area of supply chain optimization, which includes distribution and logistics, supply chain management and
reverse logistics. It provides channel management services such as channel relationship management, order management
and vendor managed inventory.
The companys Handset protection and insurance segment offers device insurance and extended warranty, and mobile
security services. It has implemented 45 insurance solutions through its subsidiary, eSecuritel. Brighstar provides data
protection against malware, spyware, viruses, hacking and theft through its strategic alliance with NQ Mobile. It also offers
IT VARs Mobility Services such as activation, customized billing and wireless administration software, and handset
protection and replacement services. Under activation services, Brightstar executes critical functions with process and
technology that include activation gateway, agent services, carrier management and merchandising services. The
companys customized billing and wireless administration software is divided into two services, which comprises cell
manage and customized IT services. The solutions provided under cell manage include clear tracking capabilities, online
customer service, allows for modifications to service plans and Optimizes multi-carrier deployment.
Its Buy-back and trade-in solutions segment offers services such as trade-in programs and buy-back programs. This
solution reduces device subsidies and enables customers to receive in-store credit for their devices, and use it toward the
purchase of a new phone and service agreement.
Brightstar offers Retail services such as in-store services, retail outsourcing and expanded portfolio management. The
company provides services such as merchandising services, sales force training and field services. It offers retail
outsourcing such as category management, labor optimization, and store-within-a-store (SWAS). Brightstar also provides
expanded portfolio management services such as virtual inventory, online integration, online training and recommendation,
handset leasing and direct to consumer management.
The companys Financial services segment provides two leasing models: The first enables end-users to upgrade or access
the latest mobile technology without paying all costs upfront. The second is a business-to-business model that offers
operators, retailers, and dealer agents financing solutions for its customers.
It offers customized and licensed devices at retail points of sale and demographics with brands such as AIKO, Barbie and
Hello Kitty. Brightstar through its data-centric and enterprise category concentrates on distribution of a variety of products
ranging from PDAs and smartphones to broadband equipment, PC cards and modems. The brands under this category
include htc, Motorola, Palm, RIM, Canopy, Radiowaves, Redline, enfora, Kyocera, Novatel Wireless, and Sierra Wireless. It
delivers accessories of BlackBerry, Bluetrek, Cellpoint, newgen and Pantech. Brightstar offers consumer electronic

products such as MP3 players, flat screens, cordless phones, two-way radios, accessories, and other communication and
electronics devices of BELKIN, iSymphony, Lexar, Logitech, Midland and Uniden brands.
Brightstar also provides supply chain solutions, manufacturing solutions, airtime solutions, marketing solutions, retail
solutions and venture solutions. The customers covered under this category are Alegro, Cable and Wireless, Claro,
Embarq, Kmart, movida and Suncom. It also offers manufacturing solutions in two forms, semi-knock down and complete
knock down services, to different organizations. The marketing solution ranges from product packaging to web-based
promotional activities. Its venture solutions team supports olpc, SRT, Voxpath and Voyze.
The company operates through its subsidiaries such as eSecuritel, Consensus and Mobile Phone Exchange. It partners
