Teacher displays a few items-envelope, stamp and a piece of paper.
Students guess the use of these items.
Teacher introduces the topic.
Students are asked to volunteer to write out on the whiteboard any parts of an
informal letter that they remember from previous knowledge.
2. Teacher checks on the format.
3. Other students are asked to rectify their peers mistakes if there were any.
4. Students refer to p12 of the English Language Text Book.
5. Students compare the format in the text book to that of the one written at front.
6. Students copy the format into their exercise book.

Activities
An outline of an informal letter on a mahjong paper is displayed at the front by
the teacher.
Students voluntarily come and pick a word card and paste on the mahjong paper.
Students and teacher checks the answers.
Teacher divides students into groups of four and distributes handouts.
Teacher explains the activity and sets a time frame (approx.-25 mins) to complete
the activity.
Students discuss in their groups and complete the allocated task. Students are
encouraged to look up in the dictionary meaning of words they are not familiar of.
Students in their respective groups read out answers together according to the blank
numbers.
Teacher reads out the correct answers and students mark their handouts.
Students write out the entire informal letter in their exercise books as
reinforcement.
