delivernursingcareoverdistancetelehealthnursesaresuccessfullycaringforpatients
remotely.

telehealthstandardscanbefoundwiththeAmericanAcademyofAmbulatoryCareNurses
(AAACN)andAmericanNursesAssociation(ANA.)Internationaltelenursingcompetenciesare
availablefromtheInternationalCouncilofNursing(ICN),whichhasrigorouslyreviewedand
approveda39pagecompetenciesdocument.ICNcompetenciesapplytonursesintheUSA,
Canada,andover130countriesglobally.

andinformedpatientconsentremainthesamefortelehealthencountersasforinperson
care.
Future
AstheUShealthcareenvironmentcontinuestoevolveduetochangesinreimbursement,
legalissues,andshrinkinghealthcareresources,theexpandingroleoftelehealthnurseswill
continuetoevolve.Leadershipandcollaborationamonginternationalnursesisneededto
outlinetheusesofehealth/telehealthtechnologiestoprovidenursingcareinan
interdisciplinarymannertopatients,regardlessofstaffing,time,orgeographicboundaries.
