I am writing this to complete my annual report to GE Foundation. My report entails some details as follows.
-Consolation prize of green innovative idea contest tra lai dao xanh(Restoring of Living island), from Frogsleap
Foundation at Bach Khoa University.
-1 PFVCco scholarship from Petrovietnam and fertilizer corporation.
-Collaborator of a 10-day volunteer holiday for UK student in Dai Loc district, Quang Nam province, this is an
activity from Frogsleap Foundation from 18th to 27th August 2013.
-Dynamic member of BKDEC, an English club of dormitory of Bach Khoa University which help me to improve my
English.
-Collaborator of Spring camping of Tan Chau high school
-Taking part in Mua He Xanh campaign (Green summer campaign) in July 2013
-Together with GEers visiting and presenting the gifts to the children suffer from visual impairment and distribute
Christmas greeting cards to raise money for Bung Sang Charity around last December.

2. Please describe the community service activities you have undertaken this past year, including how you found
this opportunity (student association, GE Volunteer, etc.), the name of the organization(s), what your role was, and
how much time you have committed. [700 character limit]
Last mid-autumn festival, I and GEers volunteer visited and presented gifts to blind children in a nursery institution
in Ho Chi Minh city. We had a prior contact, good preparation. Although time we had been together with those
unlucky children was short, we were really happy because of the small but meaningful and warm pleasure we give
to those children in mid-autumn festival.
To the university extracurricular activities, Xuan Tinh Nguyen and Mua He Xanh, which is annual major program,
are the great chance for me to experience new challenges. For example, the last Mua He Xanh campaign, my
responsibility is to build a house for a family at a remote area of Ho Chi Minh city, which is quite relevant to my
profession.
Another meaningful work I have done is that after having won a price of a contest from Frogsleap Foundation, I
decided to get involve in that club. In last summer, I and my Frogsleap Foundation peers organized a voluntary trip
for UK students, aiming to offer them an opportunity to enjoy social activity as well as learn more about
Vietnamese time-honored culture. We had a ten-day trip to Quang Nam, which include two main activities that are
teaching local children English and construction. I had a job of a technical assistance and, together with foreign
volunteers, we fixed the fence, repainted school facilities and cleaned the bushes successfully. And you should
know that to organize such a complex program like that, Vietnamese volunteers had prepared 4 month before!

3. What have been some valuable lessons you have learned from your community service activities? Do you
intend to continue with the same organization(s) in the coming year or would you like to find a different

placement? If you plan to find a new placement, please provide a brief proposal of your planned community
service activity for next year. [700 character limit]
The community service works and volunteer activities have offered me priceless lessons that I am barely taught at
school. They show me the value of labor and remind me that there are poverty and suffering somewhere out
there, where people desperately need a help from community. Getting involve in those activities, I am aware of
that I am luckier than quite a lot of people and that I must be more positive and try harder in order to partly
contribute to building up a wealthy community and give favor to those unluckier than me.
Living with UK students in volunteer holiday is a wonderful experience of mine. That is a great opportunity for me
to learn more about different cultures as well as to let Vietnamese cultural beauty and peoples characteristics
known to those international friends. Furthermore, Volunteer holiday is also an excellent chance for me to apply
and enhance my professional knowledge.
The most valuable thing I have acquired is personal experience. Those activities help me adopt a more positive and
responsible perspective toward the life around, where I can enjoy in a totally different walk of life, and listen to
experienced seniors.
The last one year is quite beneficial to me, when I had chance to learn a lot of favorable experience, and I promise I
will be constantly on my way, devoting myself to partly help my clubs more meaningful and effective and I will
look for many other challenges to explore my hidden abilities.

4. If applicable, please describe your GE mentorship opportunity. What were you able to learn from this
experience and how do you foresee that it will help you in the future? If you have not yet had a GE mentorship
opportunity, please explain why and how IIE might help facilitate this opportunity. [700 character limit]
I have not received any mentorship, but I suppose it is essential to me because what I learn from university is just a
theoretical knowledge rather than practical experience, therefore the lack of information and practical experience
make me worried, mentorship from GE could give me necessary information to anticipate the difficulties ahead
and have a good preparation. I hope that I will receive mentorship from GE soon.
5. Please comment on any circumstances in your university studies or personal life that we should be aware of
when evaluating your academic performance and continued program participation. [700 character limit]
The sophomore year is the year of foundation subjects, which are the basis of professional knowledge, therefore
the curriculum, especially those of faculty of civil engineering, is heavy and demanding, so I spent quite a lot of
time for studying, therefore managing time for social activities is my success. Furthermore, the evaluation from
lecturer is increasingly strict and challenging and their requirement is harder and harder, resulting in the difficulty
of getting high mark.
6. Please comment on how receiving this scholarship has had an impact on you, in terms of both financial gain and
personal development. [700 character limit]
This scholarship program is advantageous to me. It is not only a financial aid but also a spiritual motivation to me
to handle my hard life and do the excellence at school. In addition, it helps me develop my skills and shape a
positive attitude, becoming a dynamic and confident person.
7. Please account for your scholarship funding this past year and how you plan to use your scholarship next year
(this may be the same from year to year). [700 character limit]

I received a total amount of around 24 million VND in the past year. I spent approximately 8 million VND for tuition
fees, 5 million VND for an English course, 1 million for studying materials, and the rest for monthly rents and living
costs.

In the next year, if I continue to receive this scholarship, i will spend it repairing my laptop, which could cost about
2 million, and buying some studying materials, which is about 1.5 million. I will spend 1 million on volunteer
activities, 3.5 million on university tuition fees, and the rest 3.5 million on living costs.

8. Please provide your comments, questions and suggestions regarding the program. [700 character limit]
I am very happy to be a member of GEers community, where I feel honored to be friend of and to work with
people across our country. A volunteer club called GEers volunteer club are going to be established, and this is a
chance as well as a motivation for me and my peers to fulfill our dream, that is we are able to contribute more and
more to community and society. I would like to say thank you to GE and IIE and I hope that GE and IIE will always
back our next activities. I have a small question to GE that does US Education fair in northern Vietnam from IIE still
need volunteer? I hope to be a volunteer of those seminars. And I have one more question that could GE operate a
members reunion Gala to offer us an opportunity to meet with other GEers, I am looking forward to seeing your
feedback.
The last words, I would like to express my gratefulness to GE and IIE for your favor and aid. And never forget to say
thank you very much to Ms.Trang and Ms.Oanh, who help me a lot in this program.
