Heading to Asia

And the glory of the LORD

will be revealed, and all
mankind together will see it.
For the mouth of the LORD
has spoken" Isaiah 40:5. This
prophecy was given about
Jesus centuries before that first
CHRISTmas. As we move
from celebrating Christ taking
on human flesh and being born
in a manger we now begin a
new year and a new season in
the church year. We progress into the season of Epiphany. The
season the Wise Men, from the east, journeyed to see the Savior.
This season celebrates the the Savior of the world becoming known
and letting HIS light shine in the darkness. Serving the LORD
overseas gives great opportunities to tell the Good News of this
Great Light. The Savior the Wise Men visited has come for all
tribes, all skin colors, and all nations. My work in Hong Kong will
include serving as chaplain to fellow servants stationed all over
Asia; Sri Lanka to Papua New Guinea and everywhere in-between.
All need the Light of Christ. Jesus entered into a dark world; a
world filled with murder and massacre, disease and death. Jesus
overcame the darkness by taking on our darkness at the cross. All
the worlds darkness deserved God the Fathers eternal wrath. Jesus
willingly took the Fathers wrath in our place, suffering an eternity
of damnation in our place on the cross. My God my God why
have you forsaken me? In the midst of the darkness Jesus suffered
for the sins of the entire world. Jesus took the darkness of our sins
and paid the eternal price for all sinners. This Light gave up HIS
life for sinners, only to take it back in three days to show He has
defeated sin, death and the devil. On that first Easter Jesus
overcame our darkness and now HIS light of forgiveness shines. It
shines in our ears when the pastor forgives our sins, when we come
to The Lords Supper, and when HE washes us clean in Baptism.
This is the Light we share in our families, neighborhoods,
churches, and those across the ocean. This is the Light I will share
as I travel overseas. Thank you, for your support, for your prayers
and your financial support, and a blessed new year to all of you.

Supporting the Work

Young Kylee, a member Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia,

Illinois opened a lemonade stand last summer to raise money for
the Kolb Family heading to Asia. Her love and support of her
former pastor is greatly appreciated. Thank you Kylee for your
support!

Daily Life

Kylee and
Pastor

In-between home schooling and daily household activities, our

home is busy with packing, donating, and cleaning. The excitement
about moving continues to grow. As we wait for deployment
(which seems to be getting closer) we are still visiting churches
and schools.
