I. INTRODUCTION
 Jatropha Seed
 Availability good quality seed is needed to
Jatropha
 Availability of High Seed Production is
needed
 Soaking Temperature and Time of Soaking is
one of factor to Seedling growth requirement
JATROPA PLANT
(Jatropha curcas L)
 Family of Euphorbiaceae
 Bush or small plant with irregular
branches, 1-7 m height,
 Grow wild or grown as fence,
 Grow well in infertile land with dry
weather,
 Widespread in almost all regions
in Indonesia, Live until 25-30
years,
JATROPA SEED

 Round-oval shaped seed,

 Blackish-brown seed coat,
 Brownish-white seed,
 Size : length 2 cm, width 1cm,
Advantages of Jatropa Curcas Linn as Biodiesel Raw Material

• seed has high oil content (30 - 50 %)

• Oil is not edible --> not interfere edible oil supply

• Can be grown and developed in dry and marginal lands (10

million ha of potential land in Indonesia)

• Easy to grow and widely adaptable

• Does not drain soil nutrients nor reduce water reserve,
makes soil fertile, instead
Growth Requirements

 Grow well in lowland up to 1000 m above sea

level,

 Grow at rainfall of 300-2380 mm/yr, Optimum

rainfall: 625 mm/yr,

 Grow well in porous as well as infertile

(marginal) soil,

 Required average temperature is 20-28 oC,

 Requirement acidity of soil between 5 – 6,5

 Can’t grow in peat moss land

CONVENTIOANAL SEEDLING METHOD
TISSUE CULTURE SEEDLING METHOD
OBJECTIVE
 High Production of Seedling growth
 High Production Of Jatropha Plantation
 Determined Right Temperature and Time
to seed soaking treatment

II. MATERIAL AND METHODS
Analysis Using Statistical Analysis System (SAS) and Duncan
Multiple Range Test (DMRT) Interval level 5%

EXPERIMENT DESIGN

Yijk = + Ti + Jj + (TJ)ij + Pk

Completely Randomized Block Design

This method of this research used Random Group
Design (RGD), arranged in two factorial.
The factor is as follow :

1. Temperature of Seed Soaking , Consist of three:

Tb = Room Temperature, 270C
T40 = 40 oC Temperature
T70 = 70 oC Temperature
2. Time of seed soaking, consist of two :
J1 = Time of Seed Soaking 6 Hour
J2 = Time of Seed Soaking 12 Hour
Treatment

 This experiment was conducted at

Surfactant and Bioenergy Research
Center
 Seed Soaking Temperature are
Temperature 27 oC (Tb), 40 oC (T40) and
Temperature 70 oC (T70)
 Time Of Seed Soaking Temperature are
6 Hour and 12 Hour
