FRANCISCI PP.

EXHORTATIO
AD COETUM FAMILIARUM IN URBE PASAIANA HABITUM

die S. Fulgentii Ep., Conf., & Eccl. Doct., xvii. kl. februarii A. D. MM. X. V.

m me gua mucho eo de soar en una

familia []. Toda mam y todo pap so a
hagan tambin, tambin!, eas preguntas: Hoy so
con el futuro de mis hijos? Hoy so con el amor de mi
esposo?, de mi esposa? Hoy so con mis padres y mis
Very important matter!
[Anglice prosequitur.]
San Jos durmiendo. Y durmiendo, cuida a la Iglesia.
Durmiendo cuida a la Iglesia. Yes, he can do it; we know. Y
[Anglice prosequitur.]

his idea of dreaming in a family pleases me

very much []. All mothers and all fathers
dreamt about their child for nine months. Is it
true?, or not?, to dream how the child will be. A family
without dreaming is not possible. When the capacity to
dream is lo in a family, children do not grow, love does
not grow, life becomes weak and is extinguished. Therefore, therefore, I recommend to you that each night,
when you make the examination of conscience, let these
queions be indeed made too: Did I dream today of
the future of my children? Did I dream today of the love
of my husband?, of my wife? Did I dream today of my
parents and grandparents who related ories even unto
me? To dream is so important, r of all, to dream in a
family. Do not lose this capacity to dream.
And also, how many diculties in the life of the
married eate are resolved if we allot for ourselves a
space of a dream, if we pause and think of the husband,
of the wife, and dream of the goodness that they have,
the good things that they have. It is therefore very important to recover love through everyday dream. Never
ever op being boyfriends and girlfriends! It is a very
important matter! [Anglice prosequitur.]
I would like also to tell you a very personal matter. I
love Saint Joseph very much, because he is a rong man
of silence. And in my writing desk, I have an image of
Saint Joseph, sleeping. And sleeping, he looks after the
Church. Sleeping, he looks after the Church. Yes he can
do it; we know. And when I have a problem, a diculty, I
write a note which I place under Saint Joseph, that he
may dream about it! This, this signies that he may
pray for that problem. [Anglice prosequitur.]

Hic proferimus
solummodo omnia quibus Summus Pontifex locutus e extra textum praecompositum. Sicut et in exordium, et anglice desinivit.

The same is with Saint Joseph. To Saint Joseph, the

gift of the Holy Family was entrued that he may transmit it further on. To each one of you, and to us, because
I am also a child of a family, Gods plan is entrued to
us to transmit it further on. [Anglice prosequitur.]
Ideological colonisations exi, which seek to deroy
the family! They are not born from the dream of prayer,
of the encounter with God, of the mission that God
gives us. They come from outside. I therefore call them
colonisations. Let us not lose the freedom of the mission
that God gives us, the mission of the family! And it is
this very manner how our peoples, in a moments in
their hiory, reached the maturity to reply No! to
whichever political colonisation. As family, we have to
be very, very wise, very capable, very rong, in order to
say No! to whichever intent of ideological colonisation
upon the family; and to beseech Saint Joseph, who was a
friend of the angel, that he may send us the inspiration
to know when we can say Yes! and when we mu say
No! [Anglice prosequitur.]
I think of Blessed Paul VI, in one moment when the
problem of population growth was proposed to him, he
had the courage to defend the familys openness to life.
He knew the diculties that exi in each family. He
was, therefore, merciful in his encyclical [] with respect
to particular cases, and he asked confessors that they
may be very merciful and underanding with respect to
particular cases. But he looked beyond! He looked to
the peoples of the earth, and saw this menace of deruction of the family through the privation of children. Paul VI was courageous. He was a good shepherd.
And he cautioned his sheep about the wolves that were
approaching []. May he from heaven bless us this evening! [Anglice prosequitur.]
I remained today supremely moved at heart after
Mass, when I visited that home for children, who are
alone, with no families. How many people work in the
Church so that that home may become a family! This
means prophetically bringing further on that which a
family signies! [Anglice prosequitur.]

No
decirle No! a cualquier colonizacin poltica.
Pero l mir ms all! Mir a
[Anglice prosequitur.]

OUR TAKE ON THINGS
During the papal visit, some of us
became too childish in how we
treated the Pope. The timing of
the visit with the fea of the Holy
Child of Cebu, and its encounters
with families and the youth is not
an excuse to appreciate the Pope as merely a child,
valuable only for his cute smile, or his unassuming
breakfa, or his general geniality to all. He is not
the cushy doll one can buy in many ores promoting the visit. The Pope has a throne, we mu
know and remember, and in the heart of the Vatican, he ought to rule from it, and eer the barque
of Peter across the waters of the world. He even
temporarily dethroned on January our very
own Cardinal Tagle from his metropolitan see.
***
The metropolis, doubtless incited
by the twied and sensationalising arm of its press, swooned over
the psalmi during Pope Francis
Mass at the cathedral. Let us call
this arm the medias withered arm,
because it is useless but nonetheless hampers good
journalism. The Church mu begin screening the
media. We imagine a sort of entrance examination, covering basic canon law, the catechism, the
Liturgy, etc. The Church is not showbiz. We
need minds higher than those of chronic gossipers.

Idoneity of clerical attire

Jesson G. Allerite

he I Provincial Council of Milan decreed that the outer vements of

clerics mu be simple and reach the ankles, whose collar mu not be
folded, but secured around the neck. The XI Diocesan Synod of Milan, on the other hand, ordained that clerics mu always wear and appear in the cassock. Closer to us, the I Plenary Council of the Philippines
decreed that pries mu always wear the sotana and, when outside, the teja.
When Pope Francis arrived in Sri
Lanka, he was greeted by forty elephants
in colourful array. A little after he arrived
in Manila, forty Jesuits visited him in the
Apoolic Nunciature. He made a remark that, between the forty elephants

and the forty Jesuits, the elephants were

better dressed.
Is it really worth it to abandon the
sartorial beauty of the priehood? Should
a pries coyness eclipse Chris majey
in the person of the alter Chrius?

ACT OF REPARATION
TO THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Almadrones

Sweet Jesus, Whose overowing charity for men is requited by so much forgetfulness, negligence and contempt, behold us prorate before Thine altar eager to
repair by a special act of homage the cruel indierence and injuries, to which Thy
loving Heart is everywhere subject.
Mindful alas! that we ourselves have had a share in such great indignities, which we
now deplore from the depths of our hearts, we humbly ask Thy pardon and declare our
readiness to atone by voluntary expiation not only for our own personal oences, but also
for the sins of those, who, raying far from the path of salvation, refuse in their obinate
indelity to follow Thee, their Shepherd and Leader, or, renouncing the vows of their
baptism, have ca o the sweet yoke of Thy law.
We are now resolved to expiate each and every deplorable outrage committed
again Thee; we are determined to make amends for the manifold oences again
Chriian modey in unbecoming dress and behaviour, for all the foul seductions laid to
ensnare the feet of the innocent, for the frequent violation of Sundays and holidays, and
for the shocking blasphemies uttered again Thee and Thy Saints.
We wish also to make amends for the insults to which Thy Vicar on earth and Thy
Pries are subjected; for the profanation, by conscious neglect or terrible acts of sacrilege of the very Sacrament of Thy divine love; and laly for the public crimes of nations who resi the rights and the teaching authority of the Church thou ha founded.
