GLOBE
Looking for an environmentally friendly general purpose product for around the house? GLOBE is providing some
excellent suggestions below. Sources indicate that theres no need to waste your expensive Greek or Spanish Extra Virgin for these tasks, just grab a bottle of inexpensive, domestic olive oil and try these tips.
For a close shaveOlive oil can provide a safe and natural lubricant. Once finished, rub in a little extra after
washing.
Wood Furniture PolishWipe with a teaspoon of olive oil and a soft rag. Mix in a bit of vinegar or citrus juice to
bulk up the cleaning power and add a fresh scent.
Fingernails Use a bit of olive oil to moisturize cuticles, or mix oil and water and soak your hands before a manicure.
Create a non-stick surface for kitchen toolsRub or spray olive oil on your measuring tools for easy clean-up of
sticky substances like honey, grain mustards, and sugary syrups.
Control hair frizzComb a bit of olive oil through dry hair to tame the frizz and flyaways on humid days or in the
winter.
Free a stuck zipperUse a cotton swab to apply olive oil to the teeth of a zipper and gently ease the tab down.
Care for your kittyAdd a teaspoon of olive oil to your cats food to help prevent hairballs and provide a shiny
coat.
DIY Lip balmMix olive oil and melted beeswax in a 1:1 ratio with an essential oil for fragrance, and say goodbye
to dry and chapped lips.
Shine stainless steel and brassRub with a bit of olive oil on a clean rag to prevent streaks, corrosion, and tarnish.
As you batheAdd a few tablespoons of olive oil to your running bath water. Youll be amazed when you towel off.
Remove makeupDab a bit under your eyes, on your cheeks and forehead, then wipe with a damp cloth.
Remove paint from your skinRub olive oil onto messy hands, arms, or faces. Allow the oil to soak into the skin
for five minutes, then rinse with soap and water.
Stop a throat tickleTake a sip of olive oil to stop the itchy flicker that is making you cough.
Lubricate hingesUse a rag or cotton swab to apply olive oil to the top of a problematic hinge in your home or
automobile.
Condition leatherRub olive oil into worn leather, such as a baseball glove, and let set for 30 minutes, then wipe
away any excess. (spot test first). For shiny shoes, rub them with just a spray of oil to maintain their shine.

The Childrens Sunday Enrichment Program will begin on Sunday, Jan. 18th and
run through May 17, 2015 and will be facilitated by our own, Jill Finnel.
The program will be open to all children ages 4/5 thru 10.
This is a modified religious education program that will provide stories and
activities for all ages based on our UU Principles.
The religious education committee is hoping that this low key programming
will be enjoyed by the children when they are able to attend.
The Service Planning Committee and members of the Board, would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Evie Sustman for her service and contributions to
the LUUF children Religious Education programs over the years.

The day-to-day life of our fellowship is the glue that holds our spiritual community together. Unitarian Universalism approaches the more "secular" aspects of fellowship life with the same religious intent as it's worship. Our religious education classes, adult activities groups, community volunteerism and building facilities committees are essential aspects
of our spiritual work. We believe it is our deeds, not our creeds, which are most important.
Every day we have people helping the Fellowship in ways that
allow our community to thrive. Whether you are a board member,
on a committee, you make coffee, do dishes, vacuum, shovel
snow, rack leaves, plan a garden, help coordinate a service or you
do one of the other countless tasks, the time and talents you share
is incredibly important for our Fellowship community. Please know
you are immensely appreciated.

Were seeking a couple more HOSTS for the Fellowship's CIRCLE SUPPERS in February, March, or Early
April! Wed like to hold three, on different Saturday
evenings. These suppers are simple and fun - a potluck
at a host's home, or a gathering at a restaurant - and they
are a great way to get to know Fellowship friends. For
the potluck dinners, participants coordinate with their
host what to bring. For the restaurant dinner, participants pay for their own meals. A Circle Supper has a
maximum group size (not more than 8) to contribute to
good conversation over a shared meal.
Please let Cathy Edwards know if you want to be a host.
Contact Cathy after service on Sunday, or email her at:

The Adult Activities Committee announces a new discussion group: TED Talks! TED is a nonprofit devoted to
spreading new ideas in the form of short (no more than 18
minutes), powerful and inspirational talks on topics ranging from science to global issues to spirituality.
Participants will meet at the Fellowship to view and discuss two selected Talks from TED.com per meeting. All
TED.com Talks are curated by the TED organization, and
present new ideas and insights. This is an OPEN group; all
are welcome to attend any or all meetings. The discussions will be moderated by Jim and Jennifer Hollahan. Please join us!
Meeting Times
We will meet on the first and third Tuesday beginning January 20th through April 7th. We will meet from 6:30 to
8:00 pm at the Fellowship on:
Jan 20
March 3
Feb 3
March 17

Feel free to talk to others who have hosted a circle supper, to find out how easy
and fun they are!

Sadly, our politicians are trapped by the system: if their campaigns dont accept the huge amounts of money, they cant get elected; if they do accept the money
and get elected, they must promote legislation of their wealthy donors or they will not
be supported for re-election.
This is a non-partisan issue: every single
citizen, no matter what party they support, is equally affected by the issue of
money in politics and the need to reclaim
