Cisco Packet Tracer Lab

Name: Shruti Parikh
Part I: Cisco_WiFi.pkt Cisco Packet Tracer
Part I of this homework assignment requires Cisco Packet Tracer software to create two subnets,
each with both Ethernet and Wi-Fi LANs. Cisco Packet Tracer is a network simulator created by Cisco
that is used in their Network Academy to prepare network engineers (like yourself) for CCNA
certification. As a student of DePaul, you are entitled to download this software and use it in this class.

Start up Procedure

Install Cisco Packet Tracer software install this software it on your PC.
Download the file Cisco_WiFi.pkt.
Double-click Cisco_WiFi.pkt after you have successfully installed the Cisco Packet Tracer.
Cisco_WiFi.pkt will open to a Logical Network view shown in the diagram below

assign STATIC IPv4 addresses to the

router ports and laptops/PC/server
ports in the diagram. These IP
assignments need to be consistent with
the subnet ids in the diagram

all Ethernet links should operate at full

no VLAN assignments are required

Useful Cisco Packet Tracer Configuration Guidelines for this Homework Assignment:
Use care in selecting the correct cabling type between the PC, Server, Switch, Router, and AP devices.
Recall our discussions in Lecture #3 on Ethernet straight-through and cross-over cables
o Use straight-through cables when connecting
APs and Servers/PCs to switches
Switches to routers
o Use cross-over cables when connecting
Devices of same type (e.g. switch to switch)
Servers/PCs to routers
Use the Config window (or alternatively the CLI window for the switch and router) to configure each
device.
Ensure that the ports you chose for connections to other devices are enabled on.
Enable auto-negotiation when available and applicable.
NOTE: In Packet Tracer, links that are properly cabled, enabled, and operating at the same line rate are
denoted with a green dot at the port interface. Your working Cisco_WiFi.pkt file should have all links
green dotted at both ends.
Reminder: Recall from our Lecture #1 material, that in order for a Server/PC to send packets out of the
subnet, a default gateway router IP address needs to be assigned on that Server/PC.
Save your Cisco_WiFi.pkt file periodically.

Part I Questions: (50 points)

1. (20 points) Provide a screen shot of successful pings from Laptop2 to Laptop3

2. (20 points) Provide a screen shot of successful pings from Laptop1 to Server0

3. (10 points) Submit your final Cisco_WiFi.pkt file with the configurations that enabled successful
pings as part of your assignment solution.
