Assignment 01

1. Introduction;
My Royal is a light engineering firm, famous for its plastic furniture. That includes
chairs and tables of different size and quality. This firm is owned by a single person
Mr. Naeem (soleproprieter).
2. History;
My Royal was commonly known as Naeem Plastic industry. Under the guidance of
Mr. Naeem this firm is producing good and quality plastic furniture for last 9 years.
3. Firm Infrastructure;
The nature of the firm is friendly and decentralizes. All the labor force has the direct
approach to the management.
i.

General Management;

As the single owner of the firm Mr. Naeem takes good and productive
decisions in short time.
ii.

Accounting;

The firms debit and credit is still based on khata system. Thus the
accountability of firm is not computerized. But during interview with Mr.
Naeem, he mentioned to computerized this system as early as possible.
iii.

Finance;

Mr. Naeem started this business of production with one single machine of 400
tons, and some little capital with a couple of employees. Today the total
worth of this firm is roughly 1.5Million.
iv.

Strategic Planning;

The companys strategic plan is to provide its customers with good plastic
furniture. That is environment/nature friendly and saving trees. Their plan
says that the Quality is an apex point of our production. Creativity is life line
for our company.
4. Human Resource Management;
Currently 20-30 labor men are working in this company for day and night shift. And
according to the words of Mr. Naeem all the labor force is satisfied with the
management and decisions of the company.
I.

Recruiting;

During recruiting a worker/labor a panel of Irfan and Shahzad (brothers of Mr.


Naeem) took interview and overlook the skills of that labor. Irfan and Shahzad
are basically involved in production processes.
Recruiting is based on preference to experience labor worker MISTRI and to
someone recruited on reference.
II.

Training;

If the company had hired an inexperienced worker, then that worker should
have to work under a MISTRI for almost 1 year to stand at the production
machine. Personally, the firms senior operational officer, Mr. Irfan overlooks
the working and performance of the new labors.

Development;
5. Technology development;
All the plastic molding machines in My Royal are made in Japan, and Mr. Naeem is
always connected to the market for new technological search. My Royal is also
having its own plastic coloring machine, because if the required color of the plastic
is unavailable. They just put plastic in it and color it as they want.
i.

Research and Development;

In the firm there is not a specific department of research. But, Mr. Naeem and
their brothers are always connected to market to update with the present
market conditions.
ii. Product and Process Improvement;
Company is improving its plastic molded chairs and tables according to
present market requirements. Making fast their production process company
just purchased a second hand used 850 tons machine for production. That
produces one product in a minute, which is an effective production speed.
6. Procurement;
A. Purchasing of Raw Materials;
My Royal plastic molded company purchases all of its raw material from
Lahore and Gujranwala. In Lahore raw material purchased from Malik Jamil,
Behram and Abdullah. Similarly, from Gujranwala, company purchase raw
material from Shahbaz and Yousaf. The raw material price is comparatively
low in Gujranwala than Lahore.
B. Machines;
In the 9 years of production, company had bought 3 second hand molded
machines of category 450, 600 and 850 tons.

C. Supplies;
There is a wide range of companys due to its quality. Almost 200 dealers of
the company are all within Pakistan. Toyo plastics are also their customer for
their special products of table, code with RT-229.
7. Inbound Logistics;
Raw material;
The raw material is stored near the production area, for fast production
processes. Raw material was crushed and colored inside the company production
area and again made suitable for further production.
Warehousing;
Company currently has 3 warehouses, two are in front of each other and they
both are occupied with finished goods. See Exhibit
8. Operations;
Machinery;

Assembling;
Average of producing one single product (chair/table) took is 12 minutes,
from producing to fittings and packing.
Testing Products;
There is a separate Engineer for testing the machines and their production.
Mostly defects occur in the coloring and the physical shape of the product. Average
of 5-6 products got defected in 100 assembled products. And these defected
products again got into process.

Marketing and Sales;

As there is not specific company marketing technique. But sales are at good level,
reason is the quality of their products and they are maintaining their quality.

Repair Parts;
If any of the companys products got any kind of defect or damage in the
given period of time, then the company will replace that defected product
with the new one of the same model and size at 40% of total cost.
