Sanskrit Scholars Meet Smriti Irani HRD Minister
Jammu: Today a delegation of Sanskrit scholars headed by Mahant Rohit Shastri
president of Shri Kailakh Jyotish Avim Vedic Sansthan Trust and other Scholars meet
Smriti Irani, Human Resource Development Minister (HRD). The delegation put
forwards various Issues and Problem associated with Sanskrit language in Jammu
and Kashmir jurisdiction and Demand for Due share of Sanskrit Scholars in
employment opportunity. As Jammu And Kashmir State is known as the home of
many ancient languages like Dogri, Kashmiri (Sharda) and Sanskrit language.
Founder of the Jammu and Kashmir State, Maharaja Gulab Singh and their successor
promoted Sanskrit Language and work for its development. J&K given birth to many
Sanskrit scholars like Kalhana, Bilhana who laid their whole life for the Sanskrit
language. Moreover Kalidas and other eminent poet and spiritual found root in
Jammu and Kashmir.
Despite renowned scholars of state and large no of Sanskrit students, from few
years Sanskrit language loosings its roots in state due to official apathy of state
government. Professionally now Sanskrit language is becoming dead language. The
department of human resource development works for the development of many
ancient languages, so on behalf of all the Sanskrit scholars the delegation would like
to appeal the ministry of HRD to work for the development and Preservation of
heritage value of Sanskrit language and to open the 16TH Sanskrit university in
Kashmir. Moreover the delegation also appeals to setup a separate ministry for
Sanskrit language and to make Sanskrit language compulsory from 6TH standards
in JKBOSE syllabus, So that more students learn about Sanskrit language from their
childhood and adopt it as a regular course in their studies.
Large no of Sanskrit learned scholars didnt get employment in state due to official
apathy of state government. Even they are not invited for interviews for post of
teachers giving reason that what education they will give to students? So the
delegation on their behalf also demands that the Sanskrit scholars were separate
scholarship and reservation quotas in university lectureship and teaching
assistantship.
