Bully

victim evaluation

For our preliminary task we had a bully situation where
someone had to walk into school and walked behind some
other girls who obviously didnt like her. One thing I really
liked about our preliminary task is the transitions. One
transition we carried out was when we swapped cameramen
to the main the girl and back to someone else. I feel like even
though we had not done this kind of transitions before it
worked well. Obviously though with more practice it would
be even more clean and concise. One reason I loved this idea
was that the main person wasnt always in shot, which
allowed us to focus on the other characters and why the
other girl is alone.
Once the main girl was given the camera we made it seem
like the camera was now her eyes and at 1:43 we added the
idea that the girl looked down at the floor to ignore their
gaze but quickly raised it again after feeling someone else
staring at her. This, I feel created a sense of what the girl was
actually feeling and how this was hurting her and making
her feel bad about the whole situation.
We only shot in our school and took the whole thing without
one jump cut. This made the shot seem realistic for the fact
that we dont have jump cuts in life and that the girl was
going on a journey.
The sound was mainly diagetic with natural sounds of the
cars and birds which further increased the idea that this
situation actually happens and can be a real situation. One of
the non diagetic sounds we used was Comptine dUn Autre
t which is a piano piece. For this sound we made it quite
quiet and at times was louder. By doing this we created a
bigger atmosphere that further shows the audience that this
is a horrible situation. We also used voice over done by the
main character. Adding this in we created the idea of how
she is feeling from not only her facial expressions but also
what shes thinking.

Overall, I feel our preliminary task went well and showed a

real story with only one take. The idea of creating our
preliminary task on something that happens all the time
allowed us to bring together our own experiences and put it
all together to create one final product.
