PERSONAL JOURNAL

DANIEL JOHN ARBOLEDA

Values are very important to each and every one life-system. Values are
learned through consistent practice and observation. Personally, values shape
the way we deal with different things and with different people. This minipersonal journal narrates about different values in a very particular setting in
a very particular time. It also includes how I was able to develop those values
amidst challenges and crises.
Since childhood, we are raised by our parents with great love towards
each member of the family. Family-orientedness is the main value system I
have ever discovered in myself I am really a family-centered individual. As a
practice, every family member is accountable to each other. Most of the time,
we, siblings find time to spend even a minute or an hour for bonding, but we
always make sure that when problem comes, we allot time for each individual
in order to somehow help and solve the problem. Up to present days, we have
our own lives to ponder and stand our purpose. Family close ties relationships
indeed is very important.
With the rapid evolution of time, I was able to develop some certain
values and attitudes, both negative and positive attitudes. Socialization in life is
very important. The more connections we have, the happier are we. I believe, no
matter what we do, we need people in our very lives in order to be complete.
The reason why I strongly pursue my interpersonal intelligence when
communicating with people, especially my thoughts and my feelings.
Pakikipagkapwa-tao is a very fundamental value that embedded to every
individuals heart. Through consistent interaction with my classmates in

school, I have learned that pakikipagkapwa-tao is a learned disposition. We

badly need it all the time. Help is easily achieved through pakikipagkapwa-tao.
I was formed by different circumstances to embrace the virtue of
obedience. Obedience is one way of forming good healthy relationships with
every superior or any elder. Although this applies but not limited to a seminary
or convent setting, but obedience is a virtue that hardly to be developed.
I remember when I was in high school, I have the guts to take the risk of
any actions I made. Lakas ng loob is one of the most important values I
unconsciously develop when I was in my secondary level. I was elected as the
President of the Student Council without much idea for a good and ideal
leadership. With so much trust in the Lord and applying Bahala na, I was
able to make it and awarded as the Leadership Awardee of the Year. There I
open the realms of my mind and try to discover more about my very own self.
After the said graduation during my secondary level, I entered the
seminary. Unfortunately, that entering of seminary changed my outlook and
way of life. It was really a period of great adjustment and conflict within myself,
especially attachment issues. When I was there inside, I developed the love and
passion for work (manual work) and independency. The moment I leave the
portals of the seminary, I realize that I conquer gradually attachment issue.
Yet, I considered it very normal.
The present days would tell that these values formed me to who I am
today. These Filipino values are very important to our daily interactions with
different people we meet every day. These counted college days of taking my
course; consistently developing the virtue of patience. Patience would reveal
different kinds of values of my journey towards my inner self. I contemplate

that patience will take me in forming a better relationships especially with the
Lord, with myself and with others.
