Gspel
La msica gspel, msica espiritual o msica
evanglica, en su definicin ms restrictiva, es la
msica religiosa que surgi de las iglesias
afroamericanas en el siglo XVIII y que se hizo
popular durante la dcada de 1930. Ms
generalmente, suele incluirse tambin la msica
religiosa compuesta y cantada por cantantes
cristianos sureos, independientemente de su
etnia.
La msica gspel, a diferencia de los himnos cristianos, son de carcter ligero en cuanto a
msica. La palabra gospel se deriva del vocablo anglosajn gdspel , que significa palabra de
Dios, traduciendo el trmino bblico griego euangelion, buena noticia. A esta forma de
cantar se la denomin as ya que era un canto evanglico, para invitar a las personas hacia Dios.
Las letras suelen reflejar los valores de la vida cristiana.

religious music that emerged from African
American churches in the eighteenth century and

York, entre
jvenes latinos y afroamericanos durante
la
dcada de 1970. Se caracteriza por cuatro
elementos, los cuales representan las diferentes
manifestaciones de la cultura: Rap (Oral: recitar
o cantar), Turntablism o " DJing " (Auditiva o
musical), Breaking (Fsico:
baile)
y Graffiti (visual: pintura). A pesar de sus variados y contrastados mtodos de ejecucin, se
asocian fcilmente con la pobreza y la violencia que subyace al contexto histrico que dio
nacimiento a la sub-cultura.

easily associated with poverty and violence that underlies the historical context that gave birth
to the sub-culture .
