Chockfast On Stern Tube Procedure

1. Check sufficient materials are available.
2. No other works to be carry out during cleaning, damming, mixing and pouring of Chockfast.
3. Ensure that all damming is completed, decide from the graph the amount of hardener ratio guide.
(Bulletin 693), power mix at about 200-500 rpm for 3 minutes using the mixing blade recommended by
your distributor for mixing.
4. Pour resin as soon as possible after mixing. Do not scrape out the residue from the can sides and
bottom.
5. 50 x 50 x 50mm size of 2 pieces sample for hardness testing. (Barcol test 35N/mm2 minimum.)
6. Make sure the temperature is at least 13 degree C (55
F), use heaters if necessary, and leave the
chocks to cure. Allow at least the following time:
13 degree C 18 degree C (55
F-65
F) 48 hours.
19 degree C 21 degree C (55
F-70
F) 24 hours.
Above 21 degree C (70
F) 18 hours.
7. After Chockfast curing, collect sample for hardness test & record accordingly.
8. Remove damming foam & use thinner to clean (oil & rust). Sand down the surface with rough sand paper,
remove pouring tube & air vent tube, cut off jacking screw.
9. Paste phillybond orange on outer flange & Chockfast stern tube in between & removal parts.
10. Stern tube assembly required leak-tight test.
11. 0.2kg/cm2 air pressure leak detector being use.

Chockfast on Stern Tube Application

1. Fit the damming foams as usual.
2. The filling connection at the lowest point of the cavity, typically the bottom of the aft end. The pump is
connected using approximately 25mm (1 inch) inside diameter flexible hose and a disposable valve.
3. In the aft end of stern tube open two air vent holes.
4. The pump should be a positive displacement type with a pumping rate of approximately 1 liter/minute.
5. After pump in place, connect flexible hose to the Chockfast container.
6. Start mixing and pour Chockfast into the container.
7. Start pumping gradually Chockfast into the stern tube.
8. Add mixed, Chockfast pour into container. (No transfer of container to prevent the air goes in).
9. When Chockfast came out from the air vent hose, pump slowing.
10. When stern tube all fill in Chockfast, close the valve and disconnect the tube.
11. Immediately clean the pump with solvent for cleaning.
12. Monitor the level in the fill and vent pipes and top up, if necessary.

1. Phillybond Orange consist of resin and hardener, mixing ratio is 1:1 and it harden in short time.
Therefore, mixed per can at a time and use it within 20 minutes.
2. Before tighten clean up bolt hole with thinner. After apply phillybond orange into bolt hole and bolt thread
then start tightening.
3. Every pouring point must dig a depth of 25mm. Use thinner for cleaning of internal and fill up with
phillybond orange.
4. Every jacking screw point must fill with phillybond. According to yard requirement different method of
sealing.
1) Remove jacking screw and clean up internal then fill with phillybond orange.
2) Use allen screw direct to stern tube, end point distance must be above 25mm and use thinner for
cleaning then apply phillybond orange for sealing.
3) If use normal screw, after Chockfast screw protrude out stern tube housing must use gas cutter for
cutting and seal gap with full welding.
