Overhauling instructions

Safety instructions
1.0 General
This Overhauling instruction book is part of the
complete delivery of your new diamond core drill.
1.1. Hydraulic and electrical systems are of a
complex nature - and can cause injury or
damage if not handled with care. Repair and
service shall be carried out by personnel with
documented experience for these systems.

1.3. After repair make sure that the rig has been
inspected and approved by the proper
authorities before being brought back to normal
operation.
1.4. Never make alterations or modifications to
components of the unit. The manufacturers
approval should be requested for any
modification done to the unit.
1.5. Use extreme caution while handling starter
batteries. Wear gloves and protective glasses
when servicing batteries. The batteries contain
strong acid, which can seriously burn eyes, skin
and damage cloth, insulation and metal. First aid
in case of acid in the eyes: wash with plenty of
clean water and seek medical help.
Disconnect the earth cable from the battery
before carrying out service in the electrical
system.
The battery gas is explosive! Never use matches
when checking the acid level.

1.2. Welding repairs should only be carried out by

an authorized welder in order to meet the high
standards that apply to Atlas Copco products.
Special attention must be given to components
which could cause injury or serious damage.

1.9. Use only authorized parts (Atlas Copco parts).

Any damage or malfunction caused by the use of
unauthorized parts is not covered by warranty.
1.10. Any warranty for work performed, only covers
Atlas Copco Products, Atlas Copco components
and work performed by authorised personnel.
Any question or to get additional
information, please phone, mail or fax:

Fax: +46 (8 ) 591 187 82
E-mail: christer.euren@se.atlascopco.com

Be careful using tools made of iron near the

battery, a spark might set off an explosion.
Read the battery manufacturers manual for
further information as well as the Environmental
instructions chapter.
1.6. Hydraulic oils are poisonous. Use eye protection
and gloves. See the Environmental instructions
chapter for further information.
1.7. Before any repair or service is carried out on
the rig's hydraulic or water systems, make
sure the engine is stopped and systems are
depressurized.
1.8. Be very careful while tracing leaks in the
pressurized systems. Hydraulic oils, water or air
under pressure could penetrate under the skin
and cause complicated injuries or infection. If
this happens, see a doctor at once.

Overhauling instructions

1.0 CFP general

The CFP meter unit, consisting of a flow meter and a
pressure meter which are mounted in line with 1 inch
threads on either side, one for connecting the hose to
the grout pump and the other for connecting the hose
to the outlet.
The pressure meter consists of a pressure sensor
mounted on a pressure transmitter.
The electromagnetic flow meter has a two inductive
sensors enclosed in a ceramic housing. The flow
meter is without internal moving or extruding parts
and has well protected integrated electronics for safe
operation.

2.0 Description of
components
2.1 CFP meter unit
The CFP meter unit consists of an electro magnetic
flow meter and a pressure meter. The CFP -4 operates
with a pressure up to 40 bar and the CFP- 10 up to
100 bar pressure.
The electromagnetic flow meter feeds the recorder
with 0-1kHz signal proportional to the flow. The flow
meter is calibrated, including setting of flow range
0-200 l/min. This is done at the factory.
The pressure meter consists of a pressure sensor that
feeds the recorder with a 4-20 mA signal, proportional
to the pressure. The space between the rubberhose
and the steeltube is filled with glycerol. That transmits
the pressure to the pressure sensor fitted to the steel
tube.

Maintenance
It is advisable to now and then check the grout
pressure against a test gauge.

Fig. 1 CFP meter unit:

1. Pressure transmitter.
2. Flowmeter.
3. Hose connection to the grout pump.
4. Hose connection to the outlet.

Connect the test gauge in-line with the meter unit and
compare the two values.
Calibration of the flow meter ought to be done once a
year or when a major work is to be started.
All service and zero calibration of the flow meter must
be done by a company authorized by Atlas Copco.

Filling of glycerol
Remove the pressure sensor (pos. 7, fig.2.1). Take out
the vent screw (pos 11, fig. 2.1) and the ball (pos 12,
fig. 2.1) from the air nipple.
zzKeep the transmitter unit in horizontal position with
the sensor and air nipple openings upwards.
zzFill glycerol through the sensor opening until it
overflows in the vent opening. Rock the transmitter
unit slightly, to be sure that no air is trapped inside.
zzMount the ball. Check that the hole in the vent screw
is open. Mount but do not tighten.
zzCheck that the glycerol level is about halfway up in
the sensor opening.
zzMount the pressure sensor. Let the excessive
glycerol slowly escape through the vent screw until
no pressure remains.
zzClose the vent screw.
zzDrain the system after use in cold condition, risk of
freeze damage.

Replacing the pressure membran

zzRemove the pressure sensor.
zzUndo the cap screws (pos. 15, fig. 2.1).
zzDismantle the end cover (pos. 14, fig. 2.1).
zzDismantle the casing (pos. 13, fig. 2.1).
zzRemove the damaged pressure membran (pos. 16,
zzfig. 2.1).
zzInsert the new pressure membran.
zzWhen inserted it should extend 6 mm outside of the
casing (fig. 2.1b) on both sides.
zzMount the hose and casing onto the conical end
piece on the flow meter.
zzMount the end cover.
zzTighten cap screws carefully, both sides at the same
time to avoid forcing the hose out of position.
zzFill glycerol. 100-200 ml is needed.
