I have 3 things I wish to

accomplish in this Presentation:

1) I want to strengthen your faith in
Gods Word.
2) If you are not saved I want to try
to convert you, or at least make
you rethink your faith to someone.
3) If you are saved and are not doing
much for the Lord I am going to
try to make you uncomfortable.

Triune Being of Man

Now may the God of peace
himself make you completely
holy and may your spirit and
soul and body be kept entirely
blameless at the coming of our
Lord Jesus Christ.(1 Thess. 5:23)
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and
sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even
to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of
the joints and marrow (body), and is a discerner of
the thoughts and intents of the heart.
(Hebrews 4:12)

Triune Being of Man

outer circle the Body is shown as
touching the material world
through the five senses of Sight,
Smell, Hearing, Taste and
Touch.
The gates to the Soul are Imagination, Conscience,
Memory, Reason and the Affections.
The Spirit receives impressions of outward and
material things through the soul. The spiritual faculties
of the Spirit are Faith, Hope, Reverence, Prayer
and Worship.

In his unfallen state the spirit

of man was illuminated from
Heaven.

but when the human race fell

in Adam, sin closed the
window of the spirit, pulled
down the curtain, and the
chamber of the spirit became a
death chamber and remains so
in every unregenerate heart

until the Life and Light giving

power of the Holy Spirit floods
that chamber with the Life and
Light giving power of the new
life in Christ Jesus.

spirit of man:
being the sphere of God-consciousness, is
the inner or private office of man where
the work of regeneration takes place. .
the main theatre of the Holy Spirits activity in
man, and the part of mans nature with which
He has peculiar affinity
It is by his spirit that the Christian both serves
and worships God.
For God is my witness, Whom I serve with my
spirit in the Gospel (Romans 1:9).
God is a spirit; and they that worship Him
must worship Him in spirit and in truth (John
4:24).

soul of man:
man not only has a living soul but he is a living
soul. .
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the
ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of
life, and man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7)

We have seen that the spirit of man is the sphere

of activity where the Holy Spirit operates in
regeneration.
Just so is the soul the sphere of activity where
Satan operates making his appeal to the
affections and emotions of man.

soul of man:
Satan knows full well that he dominates the
psychical or the soulish man
the soul is the seat of the affections, right or
wrong, of love, hate, lusts, and even the appetites
of the body
Abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the
soul (Peter 2:11).
The soul of man, that is, his affections and desires,
are never directed Godward until after the spirit
has become regenerated. Man can never love
God nor the things of God until he is born from
above.

Winning the battle on the

inside is a prime
requirement for us in order
to advance in our walk with
the Lord.

2 Corin. 10:5-6 Casting down

imagination, and every high thing
that exalteth itself against the
knowledge of God, and bringing
into captivity every thought to the
obedience of Christ;
And having in a readiness to
revenge all disobedience, when your
obedience is fulfilled.

The account of the conquest of

Canaan in the Old Testament is
a picture if this inward battle.
The story of Israels struggle to
enter the Promised Land was
pictured as an inward battle for
us today

Hebrews 3:17 But with whom

was he grieved forty years?
was it not with them that had
sinned, whose carcasses fell in
the wilderness? 18 And to
whom sware he that they
should not enter into his rest,
but to them that believed not?

Hebrews 4:1 Let us

therefore fear, lest, a promise
being left us of entering into
his rest, any of you should
seem to come short of it.

We have strongholds in our

mind that keep us from the
fullness of Gods purposes and
promises. These mindsets are
strongholds that keep us back
from entering our inner
promised land

Fear, doubt, unbelief, is the giant that

most Christians carry with them to the
grave. Most Christians do not believe that
God will take care of them. The children
of Israel had experienced the power of
God in the defeat of Pharaoh, they had
witnessed God take care of them in the
wilderness, but when it came to the
crunch they failed because of unbelief.

Hebrews 3:19 So we see that they could

not enter in because of unbelief.
Hebrews 4:3 For we which have believed
do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn
in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest:
although the works were finished from the
foundation of the world.

is important to win the battle on the inside

first before we begin to wage war externally.
If we have major unresolved problems in our
lives, we need to seek to resolve them before
we become active in external warfare.
We realize that we are not yet perfect,
however we need to be walking in the light
and be free from major spirit based problems..
If the enemy has ground in us we will be
vulnerable.

jealousy

pride

These things give ground for the

enemy to knock us out of the battle.

The flesh opens the door to these spirits

Now sometimes just through obedience to God
and through dealing with these things in our
life, you can get free..
Sometimes you dont need someone to cast it
out from you. How many of you know that if
you start starving it in your spirit, you can start
ruffling the cage, and that kind of wants out
because you dont feed it anymore.
And so we are to deal with the flesh, but the
flesh gives occasion to these spirits.
THE FLESH OPENS THE DOOR TO THESE SPIRITS.

Grounding In The Word Of God

You need to be grounded in a good

understanding of your authority in the
Lord, and the legal defeat of Satan.

Dont Be Ignorant Of Satans

Devices
The Church today is dangerously ignorant of the
schemes of the devil. Some pride
themselves in not knowing much about the
devil and his devices, saying they focus only on
Jesus..
Apparently the apostle Paul did not feel that way.
II Corinthians 2:ll Lest Satan should get an
advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his
devices.

In the New Testament equivalent: THE

LAND IS YOUR SOUL
The incompatibility between your spirit and your
soul sets up a tension that is very destructive in
terms of physical health and peace of mind.
The Bible talks a lot about the importance of
unity, but first unity must occur between our
spirit and soul.
If you are to be sensitive to the Lord and walk
with Him, your soul has to come into rest.

In the New Testament equivalent: THE

LAND IS YOUR SOUL
Self Pity, Depression, Jealousy, Anger,
Bitterness, Resentment, set up a barrier
hindering Christ in your spirit from coming
through our soul to the outer world. Your unrenewed mind comes into conflict with the
mind of Christ in you and actually becomes an
enemy of the Lord within us.

In the New Testament equivalent: THE

LAND IS YOUR SOUL
Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind (natural
mind) is enmity (an enemy) against God: for it
is not subject to the law of God, neither
indeed can be.
When there is unity between your soul and
spirit, the mind of Christ can flow easily
through us.

Our will controls both our mind and

emotions
God gave us a will so that we can choose or
make choices on how we are going to live.
The will must be surrendered to God and His
will, this is a choice that sets the rules of the
game.
Once we surrender our will to the Lord we
have to be careful to ascertain the mind or will
of God and choose to follow it. This takes faith
and an implicit trust in God.
Hebrews 4:3 For we which have believed do
enter into rest.

Unity is first an inner quality

A competitive spirit is alien to the Kingdom of
Heaven; there is no competition in heaven.
Godliness with contentment is great gain,
being content with what God has purposed
for us and seeking to attain the highest in it is
a pure motivation for advancement in the
Kingdom of God.

Unity is first an inner quality

We must achieve a unity or compatibility
between our spirit and our soul, the two must
become one in order for God to use us at the
level He wishes to. We must win this battle on
the inside.

Jesus clearly implies that there will be

no rest to our souls until we are yoked
to Him
Matthew 11:28-29 Come unto me, all [ye]
that labour and are heavy laden, and I will
give you rest
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I
am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find
rest unto your souls.

Jesus clearly implies that there will be

no rest to our souls until we are yoked
to Him
Take His Yoke: His plan for you is to rest in it:
The battle on the inside must come to an end,
only then will you have rest
Stop fighting for your rights, trust God, we
must die to ourselves and live unto God.

Gods Battle Strategy

1. Understand the Purpose
Romans 7:18 I know that nothing good lives in
me, that is, in my sinful nature
We need to recognize that our flesh is bad and
will seek to kill us, spiritually, if we let it reign.

2. Prepare
An army travels on its stomach a famous
saying that tells us we cannot just march into
battle and expect to win.
You need provisions and support. We prepare by
reading and remembering Gods Word, coming
to fellowship, praying, worshiping.

3. Perform Reconnaissance
We need to survey the world that surrounds us,
our universe, to be aware of what things will pull
us toward the flesh, and what will urge us in the
spirit.
Look out for mine fields of the flesh and avoid
them. The flesh doesnt go away, it just goes into
hiding.

4. IFF Identify Friend or Foe
Many of us think we can handle the flesh but
you cant change the flesh, you can only kill it.
Thats why you need to be aware of whats flesh
and whats spirit in your life..
How do you do that?
Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against
the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and
these are contrary the one to the other: so
that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

4. IFF Identify Friend or Foe
James 3:18 And the fruit of righteousness is
sown in peace of them that make peace.
Basically, that which brings you and others closer
to God is of the spirit, those things that drive you
or others away is of the flesh.

5. Keep the Communications Lines Open and
Obey Your Commanders Orders
Keep praying, keep talking to God, keep
fellowshipping with other believers who are
going through the same struggles as you.
It may not feel good to do battle against the
flesh, but you are just following orders.

6. Watch Your Perimeter
Just when you think your life is pretty stable
and the war with the flesh is over thats
when you need to watch whats going on in
the perimeter of your life your flesh, you see
may be dead, but it sure acts like its alive and
will strike when you least expect it.
Paul said: 1 Cor 10:12 So, if you think you are
standing firm, be careful that you dont fall!

7. Dont wait to be attacked
Dont just sit around waiting for the flesh to
rear its ugly head attack!
Ask God to reveal areas where your flesh rules
and then kill them
how?

8. Use Overwhelming Force but not your force.
Galatians2:20 I have been crucified with Christ
and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.
The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the
Son of God, who loved me and gave himself
for me.
Rely on the Spirit ask His Spirit to fill you
each day, every day.
Then, desire God, and let Him provide what
you need when you need it.
