GENERAL SHIPS PARTICULARS


The vessel was built in 1979 at Koyo Dockyard Co. Ltd., Mihara, Japan, believed to the
requirements of NK Class and ABS Classification Society Rules, and the vessel is now
presently classed with the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping Classification Society.
The vessel is a refrigerated cargo ship, with raked stem and bulbous bow, cruiser stern and
single screw driven by a slow speed diesel engine. The propulsion machinery and all living
accommodation including navigation bridge are located just aft of mid-ship, and between
Nos.3 and 4 cargo holds. The vessel has three decks, a continuous freeboard deck from
stem to stern, and with a raised forecastle deck.
The vessel has four (4) refrigerated cargo holds, with fourteen (14) cargo spaces, four (4)
main deck hatches, as well as ten (10) tween-deck hatch covers, and with six (6)
transverse water-tight bulkheads.
There are six (6) water ballast tanks (Fore Peak, Nos.3 & 4 (P & S) D.B. water ballast
tanks, and an Aft Peak tank).
The vessel is equipped with four (4) Kvaerner - Tsuji Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., electrohydraulic piston operated trans-folding type weather-tight steel hatch covers, single skin
construction, and hatch covers each with four panels.
The hatch cover panels are fitted with steel rollers, and are opened/closed in the forward
or aft direction by rolling on guide rails located on the port and starboard hatch coaming
top plate.
The hatches are believed to have single gasket type seals and each hatch is fitted with
manually operated quick acting cleats.

Deck Equipment
(a)

Anchor Windlass/Mooring Machinery and Equipment:


(i)

Two (2) sets I.H.I electro-hydraulic windlass combined with mooring


winch, capacity 15 mt x 9 m/min, each with one gypsy wheel, one hawser
drum and one warping end.
Two Hall type bower stockless anchors, each approx. 4,600 kg weight. In
addition, there are two (2) lengths each of 275 m (total 550 m) 52 mm dia.
U3a steel grade anchor chain cable onboard. There is also one Hall type
spare bower anchor, approx. 4,600 kg weight.

(ii)
(b)

One (1) set I.H.I. electro-hydraulic mooring winch, 7.5 tons pull capacity at
15 m/min, with three hawser drums and two warping ends.

Steering System:
(i)

There is one (1) Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Kobe, Japan, electro-hydraulic


steering gear unit, type F22-225, max. torque 100 tm, No.784148, Year
1978, with four cylinders and two rams.
There are also two (2) Kawasaki Heavy Industries Bruninghams axial
hydraulic power units, type BV-720-300R, S/Nos.448795 & 448796, each
driven by one (1) Shinko Electric Co. Ltd, type IR-G, Form 2636E, 15 kW,
25 A, 440 V, 60 Hz, 4 poles, 1750 rpm electric motor.

Cargo Handling Facilities:


(i)

There are four (4) sets of 2 x 5 mt SWL union purchase cargo derricks.

(ii)

There is one (1) Koyo Dockyard, electric motor and manual driven engine
room overhead gantry/trolley crane, 4.0 mt SWL.

Mooring Machinery & Cargo Handling Facilities Hydraulic Pumps:


For the operation of the above Anchor Windlasses, Mooring Winches, as well as
for the Cargo Derricks Winches (cargo, topping and guy winches), there appeared
to be six (6) Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries (I.H.I.) electro-hydraulic
pumps located on the forward and after deck areas. The details of which were
noted as follows;

(i)

Four (4) sets electro-hydraulic pumps, type HPS-6, (S/Nos.HPS-2868,


HPS-2869, HPS-2870 & HPS-2871), each driven by a Shinko Electric Co.
Ltd., type IV-G, Form 4144E, 45 kW, 6P, 77 A, 440 V, 60 Hz., 1190 rpm,
electric motor.

(ii)

Two (2) sets electro-hydraulic pumps, type HPS-8, (S/Nos.HPS-2872 &


HPS-2873), each driven by a Shinko Electric Co. Ltd., type IV-G, Form
4148E, 65 kW, 6P, 77 A, 440 V, 60 Hz., 1190 rpm, electric motor.

Refrigerated Cargo Plant


The cooling of the cargo spaces is based on forced air circulation by means of fans. The
air circulates vertically by forcing air under the grating in cargo spaces for distribution
through the holes in the grating. The air circulates through the cargo from below and
upwards.
The cargo holds and hatch covers are fully insulated, with insulation covering the ship
sides, bulkheads and underdeck, and insulation with plywood plates on tank top.
The cargo refrigerating machinery is based on Freon 22 on the primary side and CaCl 2 as a
brine on the secondary side, dimensioned for a hold temperature of plus (+)15 / minus (-)
25C in all spaces during tropical conditions, at an ambient air temperature of 40C and a
cooling water temperature of 32C..
The plant consists of four (4) Mycom SRM Screw Compressors Mayekawa Mfg. Co.
Ltd. packaged cargo refrigeration units, each consisting of;
(a)

One (1) Compressor: Model: F200SUD2-M, Date: 1978, and driven by a Shinko
Electric Co. electric motor, type IV-G, Form 6065ES, 250 kW, 385 A, 60 Hz, 440
V, 3560 rpm. The compressors S/Nos. 2052186, 2052187, 2052188 & 2052189.

(b)

One (1) marine condenser.

(c)

One (1) shell and tube evaporator.

Main & Auxiliary Machinery


(a)

Main Engine:
The vessel is equipped with a single Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co.
Ltd. (I.H.I) - SULZER, 6RND76M, two cycle, single acting, direct reversible,
cross head marine diesel engine, 6 cylinders, 760 mm bore, 1550 mm stroke, with a
Maximum Continuous Rating (MCR) of 14,400 bhp (10,580 kW) at 122 rpm
propeller, and a Normal Continuous Rating (NCR) of 12,960 bhp (9,520 kW) at
117.8 rpm propeller. Engine No.ID-1934.
The engine has two (2) IHI - Brown Boveri Co., VTR 501-2 turbo-chargers, and
one (1) Nishiba Electric Co. auxiliary electric blower. The main engine governor is
a Woodward PGA 58.

The main engine directly drives through coupled shafting to a single Nakashima
five (5) bladed Ni-Al-Bronze solid, right hand, fixed pitch propeller, 5,550 mm
diameter and 5,515 mm pitch.
(b)

Auxiliary Diesel Generators:


There are three (3) Daihatsu Diesel Eng. Co. auxiliary diesel generator engines,
type 6DSb-28, vertical fresh water cooled, single acting, 4 stroke, direct injection,
6 cylinders, 280 mm bore, 340 mm stroke, each with a rated output of 1500 bhp
(1100 kW) at 720 rpm (S/Nos.D628052, D628053 & D628054). Each diesel
engine has one (1) IHI, type VTR250M turbo charger (S/Nos.112154, 112155 &
112156). Each has a Woodward UG-8 governor.
Each diesel engine is directly coupled to a Shinko Electric Co. Ltd., drip-proof,
brushless, 3 phase, A.C. generator, type FVL-AF-100, 1250 kVA (1000 kW), 1604
Amps, 450 V, 60 Hz, 0.8 PF, 720 rpm. (S/Nos.8154000101, 8154000102 &
8154000103).

(c)

Emergency Diesel Generator:


There is no emergency diesel generator installed on the vessel.

(d)

Steam Generating Plant:


There is one (1) Osaka Boiler Mfg. Co. Ltd - Aalborg Vaerft A/S auxiliary oil fired
vertical cylindrical water tube boiler, type AQ-3, 8 kg/cm, 40 m2 heating surface,
max. 2000 kg/h steam capacity, S/No.AV-028. The oil burning equipment is
supplied by Volcano Co. Ltd., type MJ2.180, S/No.312215.
In addition, there is one (1) Osaka Boiler Mfg. Co. Ltd exhaust gas smoke-tube
boiler, type VTB, 8 kg/cm, 263 m2 heating surface, max. 2000 kg/h steam
capacity, S/No.10003.

(e)

Air Compressors:
There are a total of four (4) air compressors onboard.
(i)

Two (2) main air compressors, Tanabe Pneumatic Machinery Co. Ltd.,
vertical, two stage, water cooled, type HC-275A, 225 m/h (free air), 25
kg/cm, 900 rpm, S/Nos.27515 & 27516, each connected to a Shinko
Electric Co. Ltd., type IV-G, Form 4148E, 45 kW, 8P, 90 A, 440 V, 60 Hz.,
885 rpm, electric motor. S/Nos.8154001501 & 8154001502?.

(ii)

One (1) auxiliary air compressor, Tanabe Pneumatic Machinery Co. Ltd.,
vertical, two stage, water cooled, type HC-275A, 225 m/h (free air), 25
kg/cm, 900 rpm, S/No.27517, connected to a Shinko Electric Co. Ltd.,
type IV-G, Form 4148E, 45 kW, 8P, 90 A, 440 V, 60 Hz., 885 rpm, electric
motor. S/Nos.8154001601.

One (1) emergency air compressor, Yanmar Diesel Eng. Co. Ltd, vertical,
air cooled, type KSC3, 5.6 m/h (free air), 25 kg/cm, 1200 rpm, driven by
a Yanmar Diesel Eng. Co. Ltd., diesel engine, type NS40, 4 hp.

Oil Purification:
There are five (5) sets of purifiers;

Two (2) Alfa Laval AB/Nagase & Co. Ltd, Osaka, Japan Kyoto
Machinery Co. Ltd, H.F.O. purifiers, type MAPX309BGT-14-60. S/No.
2712199 & 2712200.

(ii)

One (1) Alfa Laval AB/Nagase & Co. Ltd, Osaka, Japan Kyoto
Machinery Co. Ltd, D.O. purifier, type MAPX 205 TGT-20-60.

(iii)

Two (2) Alfa Laval AB/Nagase & Co. Ltd, Osaka, Japan Kyoto
Machinery Co. Ltd, L.O. purifiers, type MAPX-207SGT-14-60,
S/Nos.2972447 & 2972448.

Air Conditioning:
The air conditioning system for the accommodation is supplied by Mycom SRM
Screw Compressors Mayekawa Mfg. Co. Ltd. The system has a total heating
capacity of 147,000 kcal/h, and a total cooling capacity of 167,000 kcal/h. The
Mycom SRM Screw Compressors Mayekawa Mfg. Co. Ltd air conditioning
compressor unit is driven by a Shinko Electric Co. electric motor, type IV-G, Form
3339E, 55 kW, 89 A, 60 Hz, 440 V, 1770 rpm.

(h)

Provision Refrigeration Plant:


Two (2) Daikin Kogyo Co. Ltd. refrigeration compressors, Model G(?) C55 2-F
each driven by an electric motor.

(i)

F.W. Generator:
One (1) Nagase Alfa KK /Osaka Boiler Mfg Co. Ltd., Nirex Engineers Ltd,
Denmark, type JWSP-36-125, S/No.NU1219, fresh water generator, with Dansk
Radio AS salinometer, type SL3005.

(j)

Sewage System:
One (1) Taiko Kikai Industries, sewage treatment unit, type Taiko Ship-clean AP-4,
extended aeration system, S/No.S1-668, with a 40 persons capacity. In addition,
there is also one (1) Taiko Kikai Industries, sewage treatment unit, type Taiko
Ship-clean, SGT-200, S/No.S1-669.

Bilge Separator & Bilge Alarm:


One (1) Taiko Kikai Industries Co. Ltd. bilge oily water separating system, type
UST-20N/ UVK-20, 2 m3/h, S/No.H4635, with a bilge oil monitoring alarm.

Fuel Consumptions
The vessels main engine normally operates on IFO 380 cSt, (with HSFO & LSFO) and
the auxiliary diesel generators operate on Marine Diesel/Gas Oil.
From a recent loaded voyage, the following approximate consumption figures were noted;
