Handball is a sport game relatively young, which appeared in Europe

at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th.
But its origins are much further and we find them in some sports with
popular character practiced in the middle ages and dynamical sports
used in the schools from the center and north of Europe at the
beginning
of
the
19th
century.
All these as principal sources of origin, were merged and upgraded
under the influence of some sportive games already with competition
statute:
basketball,
rugby
and
especially
football.
Handball,
an
invented
sport
AS well as basketball and volleyball, handball game was invented by
a gymnastics professor. Just that he wasnt teaching to a northAmerican college, but in Germany. Carl Schellenz(1890-1956)
adapted, in fact, the football game. First handball teams were made
up of eleven players, and the ground was the size of the football one,
which explains quite similar scores. But Carl Schellenzs idea wasnt
entirely original. At the end of the 19th century and in the first two
decades of the 20th century there were already several variants,
practiced
in
Bohemia,
Denmark
or
Germany..
Handball is mentioned in our country since 1922 in Sibiu. Initially, the
game was made up of two teams of eleven players, and the ground
was similar to the football one. Handball in 7 appears in 1928 and is
called
"Hazen"
in
Czechoslovakia
and
Yugoslavia.
In 1936 Romanian Handball Federation was made up and in the
same year our country team participate to the Olympics, were ranks
5.
Handball is a team game based on movement and execution speed
of the players. The teams are made up of 7 players ( 6 field players
and 1 goalkeeper) but on the scoresheet can be switched 12 players;

the 5 reserve players may change at any time during the game.
Players are claiming high athletic training, strength and endurance,
tactical thinking and a perfect harmonization within the team; they
must introduce the ball in the opponent gate and defend theirs one.
Ball is played with the hands, but is allowed her touch with any part of
the body (except legs bellow the knee); the goalkeeper can use legs
to
defend
his
gate.
At the world youth festival from 1955 the Romanian womens team
conquered the gold medal, this performance represents the first great
affirmation. A year later the girls become world champions at handball
in
11,
and
in
1962
to the
handball in
7 too.
Male team captures first title of world champion in 1961. Last year of
handball in 11 existence is 1963, then speed, spectacular, the large
number of goals and rapid development of handball in 7 becomes
final. In the period that followed, our boys bring us great satisfaction
at the world championships and Olympics, where medals of gold,
silver
and
bronze
were
conquered.
Handball
in
secondary
school
Handball effects on the human body have led to its introduction in the
programs of physical education and sports activities in middle school
classes. Through its complex and complete character that involve the
entire musculature of the body work and other great features, the
handball is preferred by both teachers and students. Material base
necessary for practicing handball is a simple one, without too costly.
Because there are few schools that have regular sized room is
required structuring and planning the content of this discipline during
the years of study in order to adapt the material content to the
possibilities . For schools that have a small room and an outdoor field,
handball content will be planned throughout the school year
approaching

In favorable periods for the outdoor work which means involving full
use of the field (bilateral game, contraattack) and in winter structures
of the technical and tactical elements, motrics qualities, different
games
and
relays
with
specific
content.
- for schools that have only an outdoor field, handball is practiced at
the beginning of semester one (September, October and first part of
November) and in the last part of the semester two- the second part
of March, April, May and June.
