At Eskdale we endeavour to be an inclusive school, staff are aware of the learning needs of students and we aim to support students
in being the best they can be.
Students may be identified for Wave 3 provision from a range of sources. Including information from primary schools, Eskdale staff referrals, liaison with outside agencies or from data or concerns picked up during normal school monitoring and assessment rounds. Wave 3 provision may be delivered by Teachers, Teaching Assistants or outside agencies and is additional to Waves 1 and 2. Need - Cognition & learning, including Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Developmental Coordination Disorder (Dyspraxia).
Need - Communication &
interaction, including Autism, Aspergers Syndrome and Speech & Language needs.
We give opportunities for pre-teaching
with teaching assistants in preparation for whole class sessions including difficult and new vocabulary. Regular and close contact with parents / carers. We use practice cards and memory cue cards to help recall essential information/facts. Increasingly individualised programmes. Lexia and Read, Write Inc literacy programmes. Reading Intervention- NYCC Individual sessions with visiting specialists. Reading mentoring programme. Support from other services, Enhanced Mainstream Schools etc. Individual provision mapping.
Regular and close contact
with parents/carers. Individually structured transition plan from feeder Primary to further Secondary. High level of 1:1 support (including at unstructured times). Social Stories. Comic strip conversations Lets Target Communication NYCC. Support from Autism Spectrum Conditions Outreach Support Service (ASCOSS) and SLD Outreach Support Service NYCC. Specialist support focused on communication (e.g. Speech & Language Therapy). Pre-teaching with support staff to cover key vocabulary and enhance understanding within lessons. Need - Social, emotional & mental
health difficulties, including ADHD, Depression and ADHD.

Need - Sensory and / or physical
needs, including Hearing Impairments, ADHD and Cerebral Palsy.
Advice and support from
specialist professionals e.g. Speech and Language therapists, Physiotherapists, Specialist teachers, Occupational therapists. Regular and close contact with parents/carers. Specialist assessment of pupils needs. Individually structured transition plan from feeder Primary to further Secondary. Enhanced skills training for the pupil and support staff. Loan of and training in the use of pupil specific, specialist equipment for staff and pupils such as perching chairs and radio transmitters. In-school training for staff (pupil specific).
