CHARGES FILED IN SHOOTING OF SPRINGFIELD POLICE OFFICER
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Patterson
announces that Joshua L. Hagood, 32, of Springfield, Missouri has been charged today
with the January 26, 2015, shooting of Springfield Police Officer Aaron Pearson that
occurred near the intersection of Glenstone Avenue and Chestnut Expressway in
Springfield. Hagood has been held in the Greene County Jail on a parole warrant while
the investigation was ongoing and is now being held without bond on the new charges.
Mr. Patterson stated that this case is a tragic reminder of the very real dangers
faced every day by the law enforcement officers we rely on to protect our community.
He further asked that the community continue to keep Officer Pearson, his family and all
of our communitys law enforcement officers in their thoughts and prayers.
Hagood has been charged with assault of a law enforcement officer in the first

Pearson by shooting him. Hagood has also been charged with armed criminal action
for using a firearm in the commission of the crime. In addition, Hagood has been
