The technological growth in exploration, drilling and production has resulted in discovery of vast quantities of
petroleum reserves. However, this discovery has led to a growing challenge i.e. transform reserves into production. It
is estimated that Oil and Gas industries will spend around $800 billion dollars per year on capital projects1. However
with this growth, the industry is faced with a looming skills shortage. A 2013 survey by Schlumberger Business
Consulting Group2 set the scene by highlighting the growing scarcity of experienced professionals, and stating that
over the next four years, the industry will need to generate 60% more leaders than during the previous four years.
They continue that nurturing the younger talent pool and future leaders is critical to success, especially in emerging
regions that lack the capacity to develop talent locally. This has been borne out with many companies in the
petrochemical industry witnessing such a skills shortage. The industry needs skilled oil and gas industry employees
with the ability to take management of the growth of the industry forward with the necessary strategic planning and
business acumen with the best managers being industry insiders who have made the jump to senior management.
This specialist MBA has been developed to stimulate your thinking, formalise your experience and equip you
with the latest knowledge related to business, management and leadership skills. The knowledge and access
to a global network of accomplished business and oil and gas professionals will act as a catalyst and accelerate
your career growth. Moreover, you will be able to accomplish this without taking a break from your work or
relocate to another place!
We were especially pleased that at our last inspection, the UK Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education
(QAA) highlighted the excellence of the care we give to the design and validation of our distance education
programmes at Middlesex University. In addition we have been placed in the top 10 universities in the UK for
adding value to students as well as being listed in the Top 200 global business school MBAs.
As you exercise your critical thinking and decision making skills during your MBA studies, you can apply what
you are learning to your current situation, leading to immediate workplace and career benefits. Personal and
professional development is assured through dynamic online interaction, allowing you to build networks which
will support your growth long after your degree is gained.
In completing the Oil & Gas MBA you will achieve more than a Masters qualification. You will gain a depth of
knowledge and insight that formalises your experience and inspires confidence in those around you. It is your
passport to life-long goal achievement.
I am proud to head the team that helps shape the oil and gas industry leaders of the future, and invite you to
learn more about this unique programme by studying this prospectus.
I hope to welcome you as a student to study the challenging and rewarding Oil & Gas MBA.

Valuable learning
A life-changing investment in your future
Oil & Gas MBAs ... can offer industry the possibility of fasttracking development of high-potential staff. ... The target
group for executive education is midcareer E&P professionals
with at least five years of professional experience in the
petroleum industry and with strong management potential.
... However, this target group is highly valued within their
companies, especially with the current and imminent
staff shortages. Completely freeing up promising young
professionals for a long duration masters program is often
almost impossible.

application information and to download the necessary forms. Your application form

If your company is sponsoring you for the course fees, confirmation from the
employer to this effect is required with your application. If you are self-financing your
study, evidence of your ability to pay the fees will be required.
You must submit all the necessary documents and, provided all your documentation
is in order and the application fee paid, you will normally receive confirmation of
receipt within 3 working days of applying. Your application is then sent to the MBA
admissions team for review.

Admissions evaluation
The MBA admissions team will take a holistic review of your response to application
form questions, academic record, work experience, references and GMAT test score
(if available), etc. The admissions team may feel a telephone or online interview is
required to confirm details.
Interview
If there is any uncertainty over your application and the details supplied, you may be
requested to undertake a telephone or online interview. Please ensure your preferred
telephone number or Skype details are provided on the application form for this purpose.
Fees
Financing your study
There are many funding options ranging from educational loans and career
development loans to scholarships and corporate sponsorship that may be open to
you. Many part-time MBA students are sponsored by their companies, whilst others
decide to self-finance the course as they prefer to keep their future options open. By
far the most popular MBA financing method is an education or career loan available
from grant awarding organisations or commercial banks.
It is strongly advised that potential applicants research all available financing options
well in advance of submitting their application as many funding sources have strict
deadlines for seeking funding. Countries often have their own grant or scholarship
awarding bodies which may either be government, commercial or charitable in nature.
Application fee
With your application for enrolment you will need to pay an application fee of 400
/ US$640. If your application is successful, this fee will be deducted from the full
tuition fee. Should your application for admission to the course be unsuccessful, your
application fee will be refunded.
Tuition fee
The tuition fee for the two year programme is 15,300 / US$25,260. This fee
includes online learning materials and electronic versions of compulsory texts required
over the duration of the programme.
The fees can be paid in instalments over the first 18 months of the programme. Full
details of the instalment options are available from the How to Apply section of the
programme website or by contacting us at ibc-academy@informa.com.
Students may need to purchase additional text e-books to support their study during
the course. If you are being financially supported by an employer, you may suggest
to them that an allowance of up to 400 / US$640 is made to cover such texts.
If an interview is required, we will take a few days to consider your application. The
decision will be communicated to you soon afterwards.
You will be contacted with the result of your application within a maximum of 30
days (and usually much quicker). If unsuccessful you will be given a full explanation
and a refund of the application fee. Successful applicants will be advised of their
approval and an invoice for the course fees sent. Once payment is received against
the invoice you will be sent full enrolment details by the University in due course.
