Napoleons (or possibly Frederick the Greats or possibly
Galens) dictum that an army marches on its stomach could
equally be applied to a school, such is the amount needed to
fuel a day of learning and playing. We are always grateful to
Ms Sarah Sutherland and the catering team for all they do. At
lunch children have the choice of their own packed lunch or
the school lunch, when there is a great weekly menu.
Miss Louise Handy is the assistant chef and Mrs Joanne Francis
is the catering assistant. We shouldnt forget that every day
our Hall morphs into a dining hall, tables and benches
manoeuvered into place and then dismantled again,
accompanied by lots of cleaning and polishing. Thank you to
Mrs Drake, Mrs Collins and Mrs Cheryl Walton for all they do.
Its not just lunches, of course. Homework Teas and Friday
breakfasts, together with many other snacks and meals for
events, all form part of the catering provision. Lunch each day
is the biggest single commitment, an important turning time of
the school day, for the enjoyable fare, a chance to talk with
friends and also, dare I say it, for a bit of practice in manners
and courtesy.
