INTRODUCTION
This Functional Specification is based on the European Standard EN 10208-2, June 1996
edition.
This Functional Specification provides Manufacturer with the information to be provided by
Purchaser according to EN 10208-2; it also specify the Purchasers requirements relevant to
the optional agreements between Purchaser and Manufacturer as listed in EN 10208-2.
Some modifications to the text of EN 10208-2 are given just for the purpose of making clearer
those Purchasers requirements.
It is pointed out that the requirements given in this Functional Specification for quality
assurance and documentation refer to the Italian legislation and Purchasers practice for
pipelines to be operated in Italy. When the pipes manufactured according to this specification
are to be used outside Italy, the responsible engineer shall review those requirements
according to the legislation of the concerned country.
As the requirements for pipes length are dependent on the environment where the
transportation and construction works are taking place, the designer is invited to check
whether different requirement may suit the specific application better than those given in this
Functional Specification.

This document is CONFIDENTIAL and the sole property of Company.

It shall neither be shown to third parties nor used for purposes other than those for which it has been sent

GENERAL

1.1

Scope
This Functional Specification specifies
unalloyed and alloyed (except stainless)
Functional Specification is applicable to
transmission of hydrocarbons gases and
occur:

minimum functional requirements for

seamless and welded steel pipes. This
pipes intended for use for the on-land
liquids when the following conditions

the design pressure does not exceeds 80 bar,

the design temperature is not lower than 0 C,
the transported fluid is non sour, lean, dry natural gas or stabilised oil,
the outside diameter does not exceed 1430 mm,
the wall thickness does not exceed 25 mm.

When the design temperature is higher than 50C the physical properties of the
pipes material at the design temperature shall be proved and documented through
appropriate qualification tests.
This specification may be used for offshore applications when the water depth is
shallower than 30 m provided the out-of-roundness and length tolerances are
reviewed depending on the selected installation technique.
NOTE: ISO 3183-3: 1999 may be used as guidance for out-of-roundness and
length tolerances for offshore pipes installed by S laying technique.
