CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
Ping-Gun is a thoroughly conceived restaurant which aspires to not only serve
its customers quality, palatable and delicious gun-themed dishes but also a chance to
satisfy their appetite for action and adventure. In order to achieve this, an indoor shooting
range has been added to the restaurant facilities which will cater to gun enthusiasts and
customers who simply want to experience the thrills of shooting a gun, all at a very
reasonable price. Through this, adventure-seeking patrons can have their first-hand
experience on the fun gun shooting can bring, all while having a bite.
The name of the partnership has two separate and distinct significances which hint
on what the partnership has to offer. First, Ping-Gun is a homonym of pinggan which is
Hiligaynon for dinner plate. This gives reference to the business restaurant aspect.
Another significance is that the partnerships name is composed of two words, ping and
gun. Ping the distinct sound that a bullet makes when it hits the target plate while gun
is a weapon which discharges a projectile or bullet. This gives reference to the business
shooting range aspect. After availing of the services provided by the establishment,
customers can leave with a full stomach and a feeling of fulfillment and joy that can only
come from firing a gun and hitting the target.
Ping-Gun is an innovative way of relieving stress, and satisfying hunger. It
could also usher in a new way of educating Bacolodnons about gun safety. By combining
the thrills of shooting and the joys of eating good food, Ping-Gun gains its competitive

edge over classic-themed restaurants. Also, it is the only hybrid shooting-range/restaurant

in Western Visayas, thus, the lack of direct competition.
In Bacolod, people have a limited selection of recreational activities which can
provide the kick shooting ranges can provide. Ping-Gun offers gun enthusiasts a way to
safely discharge both their weapon and their passion for the hobby. With the founding of
Ping-Gun, Bacolodnons could be able to satisfy their creaturely cravings for food, and

testament that FOOD and GUN, combined, could spell both GOOD and FUN.
