How to Request Technical Assistance


Before requesting assistance form Actia please carry-out the simple tests detailed
below which will help to identify the cause of the problem.
It is important you read the following pages which outline the procedure for
requesting and gaining assistance. This will guide you through the various
communications that may be required.
NOTE: Any Damaged units (Normally this relates to scratched or marked touch
screens) returned to Actia under the exchange system will result in invoice to the
dealer. This invoice must be settled immediately or it may result in the support
service being suspended for the replacement unit.
For your further information on costs for non warranty repairs. Please see the price
guide for chargeable repairs at the end of this section.

Procedure for requesting assistance under Express exchange or Repair of your
own unit.

First carry out all the basic checks to establish cause of problem

Send the request form to Actia assistance centre. Via e mail if possible.
It is vital that you CLEARLY complete ALL fields of the form and provide a
detailed description of the problem.
If the unit has been damaged you must state this clearly.
YOU MUST INDICATE WHAT SERVICE IS REQUIRED EXCHANGE OR REPAIR
The Exchange service is only available to units still under Warranty.

At this stage Actia may contact you for further technical information or to advise on a
recovery/repair method, which MUST be responded to before further action is instigated.

Actia will send a reply within 24 hrs, confirming delivery of a replacement or collection
of your unit as requested with all transportation details.

Prepare your unit as detailed in the confirmation reply


Prepare and pack only those parts indicated in the reply.
Ensure all relevant dealer staff are expecting delivery / collection on the unit.
Actia will collect / Exchange your unit within 48hrs of confirmation of delivery reply.

When transport company arrive, hand defective unit to them., We recommend that you get
the courier to note the condition of the unit to avoid transport damage disputes.

For repair requests only


Actia will repair units within 4 working days and will return the repaired unit within 48
hrs of sending the confirmation of repair reply. Please note: Actia will require payment
for repairs to units outside the warranty before starting repairs.

Procedure for Ordering New Equipment


1. First decide what equipment you wish to purchase using the Diagnostic Equipment Guide
section of this document. Note prices are indicative, as they may have altered since the time
of publication.
2. To request purchase of any diagnostic equipment supplied by ACTIA ITALIA SrL. please
fill out the attached Purchase Request Form (This is not a purchase order at this stage)

3. On receipt of this request ACTIA ITALIA will send you the Order Form already
completed as per your Purchase Request Form with confirmation of the order number,
product availability and prices.
4. You must then confirm your order by signing the order confirmation as designated (3
places on the left and 1 at the bottom right) and return it to ACTIA ITALIA at the same time
the money must be transferred to Actia (Via Bank money transfer) or credit card details
given. Please note down your Order Number in case of future enquiries. (Example-B

Procedure for Subscription to Software Updates


Before starting your subscription application it is necessary to obtain your Examiner
serial number (This is found on the Examiner identification label on the rear of the
unit) and the unique 25-digit identification code. (To generate this code if lost please
follow the attached Password Procedure on a new Examiner)

Subscription renewal/application can be made by Fax or email using the attached form or direct online to http://www.actiaitalia.com/swexaminer
a) VIA INTERNET: Connect up to the site http://www.actiaitalia.com/swexaminer. Follow
the on screen instructions. The site will allow you to pay for the subscription on-line with
Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners credit cards on a protected site.
The 15 digit Password will be sent to you via fax or e-mail within 24/48 hours (depending
on which you choose).
b) HARD COPY VIA FAX: Fill in the form you are sent by Actia for renewal, or utilise copy
attached and fax it to Actia Italia at the number +39 02 93590031.
Credit Card Payment:. Once confirmation of payment is received from the bank (Normally
within 24/48 hours for payment with Visa, MasterCard credit cards, (other cards can take
longer) The 15 digit Password will then be sent to you in the way you have requested on the
form.
Bank Transfer Payments: Complete the subscription application form on paper (not on the
internet)
Make the bank transfers payment to the following ensuring that the Examiner serial
number is written on the bank transfer slip as detailed under the payment section of the
Subscription Renewal form.

Fax the subscription application form and a photocopy of the bank transfer slip to
Actia Italy (+39 02 93590031) within 36 hours of the bank transferring payment. The
password and an invoice will be issued once the bank transfer has been received and
confirmed on Actias account.

Please be aware that the bank transfer WILL be rejected if any of the above is not followed.

Password Procedure on a new Examiner

Connect a fully working printer to the Examiner


Switch on the Examiner.
Click on the button on the right-hand side underneath the WEB button.
Insert the current release CD and push enter button.
Print and accept the contract terms for the software and then push enter.
When you reach the enter password step, push the button create the code
DO NOT REPEAT THIS STEP.
Print the 25 digit code and enter the details on the password subscription form.
Please pay careful attention when you write the code, make all digits VERY
clear with particular attention to ZERO - 0 and the letter O
Push enter and close the window by clicking on the X at the top right of the
screen.
The system will ask you to close the session.
Push the Yes button.
Take out the CD from the Examiner.
DO NOT RE-INSERT THIS CD BEFORE RECEIVING YOUR PASSWORD.

If problems are encountered please email or fax Actia help desk.

Please retain the printout of the original 25 digit code & keep in a secure place,
as this is the code you will use when you renew your annual subscription.

A: Fill out the assistance form stating clearly that the unit has been damaged (Not
Warranty) Actia will ask you to send the unit to them once they receive it they will
send you a quote for repair.

Q: I need my unit repaired (Warranty expired or Damaged) how can I do this quickly?
A: See above process, but send the unit to Actia by quickest possible delivery (Next Day)
contact Actia via email requesting quote ASAP (Next day after arrival of the unit), make
payment via credit card if possible and most importantly follow up direct with Actia to
confirm payment has gone through after 24hrs. Do not wait if you do not receive reply
follow up direct with Actia.

Q: I have not received the latest CD release, where can I get one from?
A: Directly from Actia. (Actia automatically send CD releases to all dealers whose
Examiner subscription is valid and not expired).
Should you need to order a replacement CD or the latest CD was sent at a time when your
subscription had expired, you can order it through Fiat Parts. The part number will be
quoted on the latest Service Information Bulletin for Examiner software version (on
Docushare).

Examiner Smart warranty expiry

This instrument is covered by a 3-year warranty contract starting from the time of purchase.
All dealers who possess an Examiner Smart can extend the express exchange warranty contract for
a period of one year, which can be renewed (cables, batteries and damage from improper use are
excluded).
The cost is 23 per month (this rate may be subject to review in future years), with the following
terms of payment :
a) Payment in advance in a lump sum (credit card or bank order).
The warranty contract is to be renewed at the latest 2 months after the expiry, or in the case
of warranties that have already expired, within 2 months of the date of this communication.
An omission of 2 months will be applied to dealers who renew the contract after this time (in the
case of a failure during the first 2 months the repair will have to be paid for).
If there is no renewal, the instrument will only be repaired after the estimate has been accepted and
the consequent payment on the part of the customer. After the repair the dealer can renew the
warranty contract as from the date of delivery of the instrument, for a period of 1 year, then
renewable.
We consider useful to suggest you the extension of the warranty because:
Thanks to the extension of the warranty you dont have to pay for the costs of a repair. For
example, it is to be noted that the average cost to repair the Examiner Smart instrument out
of warranty is approximately 700 for the screen (display) and 470 for any other repair,
with the addition of transport costs and customs taxes.
The period of a repair out of warranty becomes longer, causing problems to your activity
and to the quality of the service towards your Dealers.
