Select an A-Z Category and write on board e.g. C D Category - students copy the list
within the category this should be in alphabetical order. Each category has 10 tracks
for listening.
Give students an opportunity to ask about anything they have never heard of (eg
Whats a Barbershop Quartet? )
Play the 10 tracks (which should be in a random order). You can vary the length of
each excerpt to accommodate a particular class, time of day etc etc.
Students decide which order the category items are played in.
Go over answers, playing just the opening of the track. You do not need to ask who got
them all correct because thats not the point this is just a tool for exposing students to
a variety of music.
Interesting discussions result from spending more time on this activity!
