Foundthis"speaker"atthelocalGW.Accordingtosomewritingontheback,ithas16speakers@4ohms,withan8ohmtweeterinparallel.ThetweeterisanOlsonS297,and
notsurewhatthedriversare.Theyareall5inchdrivers,andallappeartobeworking!!!Also,thereisadateof2663.Anythingofvaluehere?

Ohboy..the"SweetSixteen"wasaterrificallydisastrousspeakerdesign.Inotherwords,arealP.O.S.

thatthespeakerstheSweet16"wasmadeout,ofweresystematically
lowfi.Thearticlearguedthatbycombiningmanyofthem,therandom
variationswouldbeevenedout.Infactthespeakerdriverswere
consistentlylowfi.
ThentherewastheproblemoftheSweet16"speakerarrayitself.When
speakersareplacedclosetogether,avarietyofcomplexinteractions
result.Thesetendtoaddmanymorefrequencyresponsevariationsontopof
themanythatmightbepresentintheindividualdriversthemselves.
Itturnsoutthatthereisasimilararraythatcanwork,butithas25
speakers,not16.It'scalledaBesselarrayN=25,anddetailsrelatingto
iscanbefoundinsomepostsImadeinthepastfewmonths.Irecently
builtaBesselArrayN=5,anditworks,but.
Whenallissaidanddone,theBesselarrayN=25doesnotdeliver25times
thesoundofoneofthespeakersthatitiscomposedof.Someofthedrivers
mustbeconnectedwithreversedpolarity.Theperformanceofabouta
quarterofthearrayissacrificedtomaketherestofthearraywork
reasonablywell.Inthefinalanalysis,youendupwithasystemthat
performsprettymuchlikejustoneofthedriversifyousitsomedistance
fromit.Closeupisstillnotaprettypicture.Howeveritdoesget
considerablylouderifyouapplymuchmorepower.
