INTRODUCCION
En aos pasados se ha visto con preocupacin un aumento significativo de la
morbilidad de la escabiosis y la pediculosis para cuyo tratamiento existen
medicamentos tradicionales tales como el benzoato de bencilo y el lindano. El
presente trabajo resume ms de 60 referencias encontradas desde inicios del
siglo hasta 1991 para la obtencin por va sinttica del benzoato de bencilo, las
cuales pueden ser aplicadas para su produccin por las plantas peruanas de
sntesis qumica farmacutica. Adems, identifica entre las vas de sntesis
halladas aquellas que usan materias primas similares y las agrupa de acuerdo
a este concepto, lo cual permite tener una panormica de los mtodos de
sntesis desarrollados, as como realizar una seleccin de los ms apropiados a
las condiciones reales de quien pretenda obtener este producto por va
sinttica.

2.1.- PROPIEDADES QUIMICAS Y FISICAS
El benzoato de bencilo presenta una formula molecular global de
C14H12O2 con un peso molecular de 212.24388 g/mol. Es una sustancia
estable a temperatura ambiente y posee agentes oxidantes fuertes, su
uso debe ser cuidadoso ya que tambin es inflamable.
Posee una densidad de 1.118g/ml, una temperatura de fusin entre 1820, y una temperatura de ebullicin de 323, una presin de vapor de
0.00025mmHg a 25C
