YMCA summer camps provide children with positive and fun experiences that
build confidence, new friendships and a feeling of community that will last
beyond the summer. Camp Octorara is accredited by the American Camping
Association (ACA) and Y staff go through rigorous training to ensure the
safety and positive experience of each child.

Camp deposits

Camp deposits are due at the time of registration.


Traditional & Non-Speciality Camps:
$20 per week for members
$40 per week for non-members
No deposit is required for CCIS recipients.
Specialty Camps:
Select camps with limited enrollment require higher
deposit amounts to reserve placement. Contact
camp registration staff or register online to view
specialty camp deposits.

Families with two or more children signing up for


the same camp week receive 10% off the lowest
weekly fee. (Restrictions apply)

All camp balances are due the Monday two weeks
prior to the start of your childs camp. A weekly credit
card draft is available for camp payment. Just fill
out the camp draft form and every Monday we
will charge your payment to your credit or debit

Financial Assistance

The Y is a non-profit charitable organization that


strengthens the foundations of our community.
Thanks to our communitys donations to the Ys
annual campaign, the Y offers financial assistance
for various programs and membership for those
unable to pay the full fees. Financial assistance

Week 1: June 8 to 12
Super Heroes have been called to unite at Octorara
City to help make sure nothing or no one can ruin
Camp Octo in 2015. All of your favorite heroes are
here to help with the fight! Will our heroes be able
to keep camp safe and sound for all campers?
They need your help, so make sure youre here to

Across the Galaxy


Week 2: June 15 to 19
Grab your space gear as we travel across the galaxy!
We explore space through science experiments,
games and crafts. Its sure to be out of this world!
Field Trip: Lancaster Science Factory

Get a Clue
Week 3: June 22 to 26
Find your inner Detective! Track down clues and
help solve the camp wide mystery of Camp Octo.

Circus Circus
Week 4: June 29 to July 3
The Circus is at Camp Octo. Enjoy a week under
the Big Top playing games, creating circus animals
and other adventures.

The Mighty Jungle


Week 5: July 6 to 10
Shh we are going to explore the jungle. What
will we find? Campers go on an adventure
through the jungle to help save the animals in
the wild! Trip: Plumpton Park Zoo

BRANDY Olympics
Week 6: July 13 to 17
Around the world in 5 crazy days. Fun and ridiculous
competitive events including color wars await Camp
Octos 5th annual summer Olympics. Activity:
Brandy Olympics

Quest for the Underwater City


Week 7: July 20 to 24
Search for the lost city of Atlantis this week to
save this mythological city from the creatures
of the deep. Does a Shark sleep? Is an octopus a
fish? These are just a few questions we answer
on our quest to save the Underwater City from
destruction! Activity: Water Slide

Gaming World Unleashed


Week 8: July 27 to July 31
Your favorite virtual characters have been brought
to life and are at Camp Octo to enjoy the summer
and have a great time. However, not all the
characters that have come to life are good. Help
friends Mario, Luigi, Mega Man, Pokmon, and
more as they try to save camp from evildoers.

Pirates of Brandywine
Week 9: August 3 to 7
Captain Blackbeard buried his treasure at Camp
Octo many years ago but has lost the map to
reclaim it. Join the journey with his crew through
caves, swamps, and sea battles in a race against
other pirates and the Navy to find the treasure.
Trip: Wolfs Hollow

Story Book Adventure


Week 10: August 10 to 14
The Evil Queen and her henchman have taken
control of Camp Octos enchanted playground
and banished music. Come join this musical
adventure as the campers help win over the Evil
Queen and take back the playground. Activity:
Camp Octo Variety Show

Blast from the Past


Week 11: August 17 to 21
Help us find our way back to Camp when we get
lost in the past. Explore different traditions from
the past as we travel through the 60s, 70s,
80s and 90s. There will be plenty to do as we
experience tye die, crazy hair contests, DJ parties
and more. Activity: Era Wear Contest

District Extended Camp
Create a full-day, Monday through Friday
Camp experience for your child attending
the Octorara School District Reading Camp.
Monday through Thursday your child will be
transported to the Y and participate in the
exciting Octorara Camp from 1:00-6:00 pm.
On Fridays, your child will participate all day
in our camp from 7:00 am-6:00 pm. See all
the exciting themes our camp offers weekly.

Teens have great potential for leading others in ways that can have an incredible impact.! Our three
leadership development programs harness that potential through experiential learning and doing.
These programs are geared for teens who are highly motivated, ready to work AND play hard, and who
demonstrate the additional responsibilities in accepting the challenges of leadership!

Leaders-In-Training (LIT)
Entering grades 7 and 8
Weeks 1 through 10: June 8 to August 14
Leaders-in-Training (LIT) is a weekly camp for
younger teens who are ready for more than the
traditional camp setting. LITs work closely with
peers to develop communication, team work, goal
setting, trust, decision making, organization and
problem solving skills, as well as teen-oriented
activities that are not available to other campers.
Fun, traditional camp activities are part of each
weekly schedule.

COURSE WORK (CIT)

Weeks 1 and 2: June 8-19


or Weeks 3 and 4: June 22-July 3
This two-week program is for teens that are
passionate about building upon their general
leadership skills. The program prepares teens
for CIT Field Work. This skill based experience
teaches teens how to be positive role models
and leaders in our community through this camp
experience. CITs are mentored by Y staff with a
special emphasis on leadership, communication,
teamwork, listening, public speaking and conflict
resolution skill building. CITs also receive CPR
and First Aid Training. Upon completion of this
program Teens may apply for CIT fieldwork which
will make them eligible for paid employment
through our Junior Counselors (JC) Program.

Course Work IS A PREREQUISITE
(CITs who completed Coursework last year are
also eligible for Field Work)
Interacting with campers as a role model requires
maturity. The Field Work program provides CITs
the opportunity to use the skills they learned in
Course Work in the Camp environment. Teens
will experience the rewards of working with the
YMCAs incredible staff team as they practice
skills that will prepare them for paid employment.
Participants are carefully selected based on an
application process that includes a face to face
interview and 3 references, so apply early to
ensure your participation.
