aboutimageprocessingandparticularlypatternrecognitionandmachinelearningusingthepatterns.
I'vepreviouslyworkedonTVchannelanalytics,anaddontoaSettopbox,tokeeptrackoftelevision
activitiesbytheuserandtohelptheuserdecideaparticularTVChannelsettosubscribetoinsteadof
payingforchannelshemayneveruseandalsotomonitorhischildren'stelevisionactivity.Imadeuse
ofmicrocontrollersArduinoandRaspberryPialongwithaPicameramodule(tocaptureanimageof
theTVscreen).AnimageoftheTVscreenwascaptured,triggeredbyIRradiationfromtheremote,
theareaoftheimagewiththeTVchannelwasselectedandOCRwasperformedonittogettheTV
channelnumber.TheimagescapturedbythePicameramoduleweren'tfitforOCR.Thesecompressed
imagesweretoonoisy,grainyandoflowcontrastandquality.IusedtoolsavailableonOpenCVand
SimpleCVlibrariestoenhancetheseimagestobeopticallyrecognised.ThoughIachievedsatisfactory
results,theOCRwasn'talwaysaccurate.ThusIwouldliketolearnmoreaboutbetterandefficient
imageprocessingtechniquesandpatternrecognition.I'mfamiliarwithbothArduinoandRaspberryPi
microcontrollersaswellasJAVAandPythonprogramminglanguages.
