2014 PAINTING COMPETITION

Please read the rules and regulations carefully. The MACC shall be strict on its implementation.
Entries may be disqualified for technical reasons.
1. The artwork should carry a religious theme.
2. The competition is open to all Filipino students and out-of-school youth, ages 15 to 25 years old.
3. Student participants must present their current school I.D., while out-of-school youth must present an
endorsement letter from their parish priest upon registration.
4. Only one entry per participant will be accepted.
5. There is no participation fee.
6. Application forms are available at the MACC office, and in selected schools and parishes.
7. The required painting size is 2 feet x 3 feet (horizontal or vertical) with 5 kilos maximum allowable
weight.
8. The only acceptable media are oil on canvas and acrylic. The style should be figurative and
representational. Abstract paintings are not allowed. Appropriate hook and line devices should be
attached ready for hanging. The artwork should not be framed. Canvas paintings should be on a
stretcher.
9. All entries must be dated not earlier than November 2014, must be the artists original work, and must
not have been exhibited before or revised or awarded a prize in another contest.
10. Deadline of submission of artwork entries will be on December 18, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. at
the Museo ng Arkidiyosesis ng Maynila, 3/F Arzobispado de Manila, 121 Arzobispo Street, Intramuros,
Manila.
11. All participants must be responsible for their entries. MACC shall not undertake any pick-up or
transportation of any entry to or from any point of origin. Wet paintings will not be accepted.

12. All entries must not be signed on the front. Labeling of entries will be done during the registration.
13. The MACC reserves the right to use the name, the photo of the artist and his/her entry for free in any
broadcast or print medium. The artist also grants the MACC the right to exhibit the entries as deemed
fit. The MACC reserves the right to decide which of the entries will be displayed during the competition
exhibition.
14. Judges may decide not to award the prizes if the entries do not meet certain artistic and competition
requirements. All decisions of the board of judges shall be final.

15. Awarding of winners will be announced at a later date.
16. Cash awards for the winners shall be:

1st prize PhP 40,000.00
2nd prize PhP 30,000.00
3rd prize PhP 20,000.00
Three (3) Jurors Choices PhP 10,000.00 each
17. All prize-winning entries will automatically become properties of the MACC.
18. All non-winning entries will be offered for sale to the general public during the exhibition period, subject
to a 30% commission for the MACC to support its programs and projects.
19. All possible care will be taken for the entries submitted. However, the MACC assumes no responsibility
for any loss or damage to the entries before, and/or after the competition.
20. All unsold non-winning entries must be retrieved by the participants or their designated representatives
with authorization letters on February 17, 2015. Unclaimed artwork after this date will become the
property of the MACC.
21. Officers and staff of the MACC and its partner institutions are not allowed to participate in the said
competition.

2014 PAINTING COMPETITION

The Manila Archdiocesan Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church (MACC) painting competition is now on its eighth year.
For this year, MACC invites all qualified participants to work on any religious theme. Artists are asked to work on any subject that
is related to the Catholic faith. The annual contest of MACC seeks to foster contemporary artistic interpretation of the Catholic faith
among young artists. It also seeks to promote awareness and appreciation of religious art.
