-

Mike Rosas to be the Project Manager of the project code Jaguar

Jaguar Project will be a high profile project

From Project Organization to Matrix Structure to conserve costs of the projects and to better
utilize their limited resources
The company undertake 2- 5 large projects and also works on 30 50 projects.
Orion assessment shows the companys major problems:
1. Higher production cost than expected
2. Low quality of outputs
3. Customer dissatisfaction on its products
4. It lacks strong project ownership
5. Scope Creep, eliminates certain issues or modifications for the project to be finished,
but falling short on the customers needs and expectations.

Questions:
What recommendations would you make to Rosas about organizing the Jaguar
project, and why?
-

Orions organization should adopt a strong matrix structure, the project

manager should have a border in controlling the project flow, he doesnt have to
oversee every detail of the works, only those that are significant, technical concerns

should be handled by the other technical departments.

They should have strong account managers to attend on the customers
needs and feedbacks. The organization should develop strong account managers
that will handle customer relations and the concerns they raise. That way they can
check if their customers are satisfied with their products, or get feedbacks on what

they need to improve in their products.

Market Research Team. The organization should also have a Market Research
team or outsource it to study their current market, for them to be updated on the
current trends on the market and to address the needs and demands of customers
for a certain product. Therefore keeping the company afloat and maintains a

competitive advantage in the market.

Equality in the workplace. Their organization should have equality in the
workplace to maintain cooperation in the production of their products rather than
competition on who gets the important role and who gets the higher pay. Employees
should be able to work as a team and recognize team efforts rather than individual
performance. Every employee should have a sense of belongingness in the project;

that if it succeeds in the market, then every employee in the organization will have
-

a fair share of the pride and recognition.

Performance Reward Scheme. To motivate employees to strive hard and give off
their best, the organization should have rewards or compensation that is equivalent

or exceeds the best efforts given by its employees.

Sufficient Funds for the project. In order for a project to be completed efficiently
and with quality, the company / organization should have the right funding for its
projects, rather than resorting to its limited resources but produce low quality

products.
Separate Production Manager. A production manager that will only focus in
counterchecking the prototype design for its manufacturability, to ensure the
outputs are of quality and effective, and meets the demand of the customers.

How would you change the organizational chart and master plan to reflect
