Society FOR YOU.
I am a first year BSc Accounting and Finance student, who
has been on the Finance Society subcommittee since the
start of my LSE career and I would very much like take my
role further by joining the Finance Society Executive
Committee as your Treasurer because I know that I have a
great deal to offer to the Society in this position.

Past experience:
! Financial acumen through my Accounting and Finance degree and internships in
banking.
! ALL-ROUND EXPERIENCE FROM PAST ROLES IN A PLETHORA OF SOCIETIES
INCLUDING:
o Successful previous contributions in my role as Finance Society Events Officer on the
subcommittee, in charge of organising and running events for LSEs largest society
o

Marketing Officer for the LSE SU Alternative Investments Conference 2015, the
world's largest student-run conference on Hedge Funds and Private Equity. Helped hit a
record number of 6,318 applications from over 70 different countries.

LSE SU Economics Society Corporate Relations Officer, in charge of raising


sponsorship - this experience will help me in the Treasurers role of raising sponsorship for Finance
Society.

Personally raised 15,000 of annual sponsorship in 2014 for the Oxford Guild
Business Society (the largest careers society in the UK with a 150,000 annual budget) and
advised on the budget, when assisting my brother who was the President.

Treasurer of my School Council, successfully managing a budget of 10,000. I also


helped to organise our fortnightly meetings and produced minutes for each meeting.

Managing Director of a Young Enterprise company made up of 14 students, which


achieved a profit of approximately 2900 in 4 months. In charge of organising the
companys plans and events and pitching to senior professionals.

Head of the Merchandise Team for school charity store, managing a 5,000 budget .

President of the Business Society at my secondary school, St Pauls Girls School, where
I arranged for talks from speakers such as Peter Cruddas, Charles Dunstone and Lord

Alan Sugar amongst many others. Also VP of the Law Society and Secretary of the
Mathematics society at my school.

Head of the Leavers Ball Organisation Committee, involved in the planning of the
end of year ball for 200 pupils. Made sure that the ball was well organized in terms of
logistics, catering and timings. Ensured that it ran very smoothly and that we did not
exceed the budget.

! From my past experience of running several societies at my secondary school, I enjoy the
responsibility and commitment of being involved in running societies. My work experiences
have also provided me with very good communication, teamwork, problem-solving and
organisational skills.
! Have numerous useful HR contacts at the top banks, consultancies, technology companies and
the big four accountancy firms through my work with the Oxford Guild, through relatives and
family friends working in the Finance industry and through my past work experience. I have a lot
of experience dealing with senior representatives at companies during my internships.
! I will leverage these contacts along with my fundraising skills to assist the Finance society
in gaining more sponsorship and increased participation from leading businesses in events with
our society, as well as providing more speakers.

In my role as Treasurer I pledge:


" To ensure the financial strength of the society, through maintaining all the accounts of
the society and overseeing the allocation of the societys funds.
" With my oversight we will be in a very strong position and be able to provide the best
opportunities for our members.
" I will leverage my skills, experience and contacts to taking the society to the next
level by attracting more sponsors and raising more money.
" As part of the Executive Committee, I will ensure that Finance Society continues to truly
serve our members interests, by increasing number and quality of corporate events and
coming up with innovative ideas for new ways to help you have the best student
experience possible as well as to make you more employable and better equipped to take
on the Financial Industry.
" To devote my time to doing the role justice. I want this role to improve the society not
as a stepping-stone or for personal gain.
" To make sure that Finance Society is the most dynamic and exciting organisation on campus
and to take it to the next level for LSE students, in terms of improving employability,
learning about different career options and having fun.
