Will the children in your care be ready to learn how to read when you send them
off to school? There are six specific early literacy skills children need to learn before
they turn six. You can help children develop these skills by choosing certain books,
using specific techniques while reading with them, and offering language-based
activities during the day. Come learn more about the fun and easy things you can
do help your children get ready to read.

though, thats just the beginning. Disaster Preparedness for Home and Small
Businesses focuses on the basics that everyone needs to follow: build a kit, make a
plan, stay informed, and get involved. There also will be a discussion on continuity
of operations planning for small businesses.

recipes and teaching methods.

process to ensure that you have the proper records for filing your taxes. Step by
step instructions for filling out the forms will be included. In addition, detailed

The science of sound is demonstrated by learning to change the pitch of
instruments. Music helps teach fractions, patterns, sequencing and pitch in a fun
and interactive environment. Making instruments out of everyday materials gives
children the opportunity to create their own sound.

The ABCs of Developing Pre-School Literacy Skills

This fun, hands-on, and interactive session is designed to introduce early childhood
educators to the current research related to developing pre-literacy and language
skills. Participants will engage in a conversation about how to best develop
phonological, letter identification, vocabulary and print awareness skills using a
pre-school childs storybook.

The Period of Purple Crying - A New Way to Understand Your Babys Crying

Session 1
The Period of Purple Crying is an evidence-based prevention program offered by
the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome. This program approached Abusive
Head Trauma, also known as Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS), prevention by helping
parents and caregivers understand the frustrating features of crying in normal
infants that can lead to shaking or abuse
