Tarkio FFA presents KMA with awesome gift

KMA Story By
Dean Adkins

When the Tarkio FFA

Chapter comes bearing gifts,
they dont mess around.
Dustin Lambertsens Tarkio
FFA Chapter visited the
KMA studios this week and
brought with them a beautiful
purple and white steel KMA
logo sign they designed and
made with their steel plasma
cutter at the high school.
Lambertsen wanted to
thank KMA for the monthly
FFA spotlights that have
been taking place since last
August and he and the kids
certainly outdid themselves
with the kind gift. If you know

of someone who would enjoy

a steel sign manufactured
by the Tarkio FFA students,
feel free to give them a call
at 660-736-4118.
Mr. Lambertsen and
the students also want
to remind folks of some
upcoming events as well,
including the Tarkio FFA
Fish Fry, Friday, February
13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the
Tarkio school in conjunction
with the Tarkio-vs.-Rock
Port basketball games.
The funds will go towards
helping students attend
leadership conferences like
the upcoming Washington
Leadership Conference along

with state and national FFA

conventions.
FFA week is also on the
nearby horizon with all
kinds of fun and educational
events coming February
21-28, culminating with
church services at St. Johns
Lutheran Church near
Westboro Sunday, March 1.
KMA thanks the Tarkio
FFA Chapter for the
wonderful gift and wishes
Mr. Lambertsen and the
chapter students all the best
in the remainder of the 20142015 school year.
Look for another update
from the Tarkio FFA at the
end of February!

The Tarkio FFA Chapter traveled to the

National FFA Convention, held October
28-November 1, 2014, in Louisville,
Kentucky. The Tarkio chapter accompanied
five other local chapters from northwest
Missouri.
On the way to Louisville, the groups
made a stop in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, where
they toured the Jefferson County Historical
Society. They were able to see what a
prairie village would have looked like in
the area during the late 1800s and early
1900s. The town had houses, the jail, the
hardware store, blacksmiths shop, and the
newspaper office.
This year, the kids also toured the
Claiborne Horse Farm and the Kentucky
Horse Park while in the
Lexington and Louisville
areas. At the Claiborne
farms, the students learned
about the Thoroughbred
race horses, their breeding
programs, and how much
each horse cost. The
students also got to see
where Secretariat and
many other famous horses
are buried. While touring
the Kentucky Horse Park, THE TARKIO FFA - Chapter members came home with
the students were able to a number of great experiences under their jackets,
see many different breeds like the memories made at the Jefferson County
of horses from around the Historical Society, Claiborne Horse Farm, and the
world, different breeds of Kentucky Horse Park, and meeting Baxter Black at
