CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

Construction management or construction project management (CPM) is the overall planning,


coordination and control of a project from beginning to completion. CPM is aimed at meeting a
clients requirement in order to produce a functionally and financially viable project. The
construction industry consists of 5 sectors; residential, commercial, heavy civil, industrial, and
environmental.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The executive director is a leadership role for an organization and often fulfills a motivational
role in addition to office-based work.
The role of the executive director is to design , develop, and implement strategic plans for the
organization in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner.

CONSTRUCTION MANAGER
A construction manager holds the same responsibilities and completes the same processes in
each sector.

OCIP FASILITATOR
An owner controlled insurance program (OCIP) is an insurance policy held by a property owner
the construction or renovation of a property, which is typically designed to cover virtually all
liability and loss arising from the construction project.

SAFETY AND PRECAUTION STEPS THAT MUST BE TAKEN


Under the Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations, the safety officer must
carry out an asseeement of potential hazards associated with the building.

Performing a hazard assessment of the workplace to identify and control physical and
health hazard.
Make sure that there is a place to unloading the materias. The place must be clean and
tidy.
The officer must make sure that the employers are providing the protective cloth and
equipments to all the workers.
They must be be given a brief on how to apply a safe methods of cleaning, maintenance
and replacements.
The construction site must have a safe storage to keep the hazardous chemicals and
dangerous equipment.
Inform the supervisor of the need to repair or replace PPE.

The employees must wear a complete Peronal Protective Equipments (PPE) all the time at the
construction site. Such as:

Eye and face protection


-Eye goggle, face shields.
Head protection
-Safety helmet
Foot and leg protection
-Safety boot
Hand and arm protection
-Gloves
Body protection
-Paper-like fiber, treated wool and cotton
Hearing protection
-Molded earplugs

A safety building is a building with a complete safety equipment. Some of the safety
characteristics are :

Exit stairs
Fire extinguisher
Fire alarm
Plan of the building

TENDER AND CONTRACT


Tender is the process by which bids are invited from interested contractors to carry
out specific packages of construction work. It should adopt and observe the key
values of fairness, clarity, simplicity and accountability, as well as reinforce the idea
that the apportionment of risk to the party best placed to assess and manage it is
fundamental to the success of a project.
