Missa Resveills vous Guillaume Du Fay

Ziel der trigonale ist es, neue Talente zu entdecken, sie miteinander in Kontakt zu bringen und ein weniger bekanntes
Repertoire zu neuem Leben zu erwecken. Aus dieser Idee
heraus entstand im Jahr 2009 ein Meisterkurs fr Ensembles,
die an der Auffhrung mittelalterlicher Musik interessiert
sind. Dieses Repertoire ist immer noch nicht ausreichend
bekannt und auf groen Musikfestivals kaum vertreten.
Die Kursreihe in der Carinthischen Musikakademie Knappenberg endete 2012 mit der Prsentation des Ensembles
Pentagonale, das unter Claudia Caffagni am 8. September
2012 mit groem Erfolg im Rahmen der trigonale auftrat.
Beflgelt von dieser positiven Erfahrung und auf der Suche
nach neuen Projekten entstand der Plan, auf der trigonale
2013 eine neue Kursreihe zu beginnen. Gesucht wird eine
Gruppe junger Musiker, sowohl Snger (Mnner und Frauen)
als auch Instrumentalisten (mittelalterliche Laute, gotische
Harfe, Portativ, Fidel, Blockflten, Zugtrompete oder Posaune), die bereits Erfahrungen im Bereich der mittelalterlichen
Musik oder der frhen Renaissancemusik gesammelt haben
und an der Missa Resveills vous von Guillaume Du Fay
arbeiten wollen. Die Missa soll dem Publikum auf der
trigonale 2014 im Rahmen des Sonntagsgottesdienstes vorgestellt werden.
Der Entstehungsprozess soll in drei Etappen erfolgen: eine
Woche im September 2013 whrend der trigonale, eine Woche im Frhling 2014 (Datum wird noch bekannt gegeben)
und eine weitere Woche whrend der trigonale 2014, mit
abschlieendem Konzert. Im Anschluss soll das Konzert auf
dem Festival Grandezze & Meraviglie in Modena (Italien)
sowie auf dem Festival Cantar di Pietre in Ticino (Schweiz)
beide Partner der trigonale fr dieses Projekt aufgefhrt
werden.

The aim of the master class is to select a group of young

musicians to work together on the Missa Resveills vous
by Guillaume Du Fay. The mass will be presented to the
public during a Sunday liturgy in the trigonale Festival 2014.
People applying should have previous experience of medieval
or early renaissance music.
The forces required are:
Singers
(male and female)
Instrumentalists
(medieval lute, gothic harp, portative organ, fiddle, recorders,
slide trumpet or trombone)
The preparation will take place in three phases:
2nd -7th September 2013 (during the trigonale Festival)
One week in Spring 2014 (date to be announced)
One week during trigonale Festival 2014 which will culminate
in the concert.

After reviewing the applications it will be decided if any

additional audio materials are needed.

La Missa Resveills vous (nota come Missa sine nomine)

probabilmente la prima messa completa composta da
Guillaume Du Fay (1397?-1474) e cos definita da David
Fallows, per le numerose citazioni di materiale musicale
caratteristico della ballata omonima scritta in occasione del
matrimonio di Carlo Malatesta da Pesaro e Vittoria Colonna
avvenuto a Rimini il 18 Luglio 1423. una messa a tre voci,
in cui tenor e contratenor sono caratterizzati da una scrittura
tipicamente strumentale, anche se non da escludere, specie
in alcune sezioni, luso delle voci su tutte tre le parti. La messa
restituita nella sua interezza dal codice Q15 del Museo
Internazionale e Biblioteca della Musica di Bologna, ma
numerose fonti parallele riportano alcune sezioni della messa.
Durante la masterclass, ci sar anche un lavoro di approfondimento sulle fonti originali che porter a una nuova trascrizione riveduta e corretta rispetto a quelle attualmente disponibili,
e che sar la versione utilizzate ai fini dellesecuzione.
AllOrdinario della messa verranno accostate altre composizioni di Du Fay, quali la ballata Resveills vous, il mottetto
legato alla corte dei Malatesta, Vassilissa ergo gaude e alcuni
inni che il musicista franco-fiammingo compose durante la
sua permanenza in Italia, nella prima parte della sua vita.

There will be additional performances shortly afterwards at

the Festival Grandezze & Meraviglie in Modena (Italy), and
Cantar di Pietre Festival in Ticino (Swiss). Both are partner
festivals for this project.
Part of the master class will consist of the study of the original manuscript (Bologna, Museo Internazionale e Biblioteca
della Musica, Q15) providing insights into decisions made
for a new edition that we will prepare in this masterclass.
The mass setting will be enriched by other compositions by
Du Fay including the ballade Resveills vous, the motet
Vassilisa ergo gaude (linked to the court of the Malatesta)
and a selection of the hymns he wrote during his stay in Italy.

Lobiettivo della Master Class quello di selezionare un

gruppo di giovani musicisti, cantanti (voci sia femminili che
maschili) e strumentisti (liuto medievale, arpa gotica, organo
portativo, viella, flauti, tromba da tirarsi o trombone), che abbiano gi una esperienza nel campo della musica medievale
e pre-rinascimentale, allo scopo di lavorare sulla Missa
Resveills vous di Guillaume Du Fay, che sar presentata
al pubblico nelledizione trigonale2014, nel contesto della
liturgia domenicale.
Il lavoro si svolger in tre fasi: una settimana a settembre
2013, come di consueto in corrispondenza dello svolgimento
di trigonale, una settimana da concordare in primavera 2014
e una settimana nuovamente durante trigonale2014, al termine della quale avr luogo lesecuzione.
Seguiranno due repliche del concerto al Festival Grandezze
& Meraviglie di Modena e al Festival Cantar di Pietre in
Ticino, due festival con cui si stabilita, su questo progetto,
una forma di coproduzione.
