week at a dual enrollment program
at Waukesha County Technical
College.
Under WCTCs dual enrollment
academy, high school seniors spend
the majority of their school day at the
schools Pewaukee campus earning
both school and college credit. This is
the second year of the academy,
which features printing and publishing, tool and die/CNC, and welding
and fabrication. It is funded through a
grant and and supported through
Gov. Scott Walkers Blueprint for
Prosperity Initiative, according to information from WCTC.
To be eligible for the program,
high school seniors have to be on
track to graduate, have a minimum
2.0 grade point average, taken all the
high school courses available and
show an interest in the program of
study, according to information from
WCTC.
I know its difficult to make the
decision to do this and to shift your life
and school to something completely
different, Evers said to students during comments which followed a Feb.

dates back to 1846. The Jail House
Restaurant now offers a Wednesday

The ACTS of Grace Mission team raises funds for local families, food pantries,
area organizations and mission trips. The
group has helped with rebuilding and disaster relief efforts after hurricane Katrina
in New Orleans/Mississippi, following
the tornados in Missouri and Illinois and

Early admission to school deadline
approaches
Parents who want their children considered for early admission into a Hamilton
School District 5-year-old kindergarten or
first grade class next fall should apply in writing by March 1 to their elementary school
principal. Application forms are available at
elementary school offices.
Children who turn five on or before
Sept. 1, 2015 meet normal entrance age
requirements for the 2015-16 5-year-old
kindergarten class; those who turn six on or
before Sept. 1, 2015 are eligible to enter first
grade.
Parents making application will meet
with the principal. During that time, a brief
interview will take place and the application
will be completed. The child should demonstrate superior intellectual development,
superior language skills and advanced physical, social and emotional maturity. Parents
will be contacted no later than mid-March
about the next step in the process.

Girls basketball: Hamilton second in
Greater Metro
Hamilton stayed in second place in the
Greater Metro Conference with a 8-3 conference record and a 16-6 overall mark.
Hamilton defeated West Allis Central 57-17
Feb. 10.
Kettle Moraine Lutheran remained in first
place in the Flyway Conference following a

47-34 win over Winnebago Lutheran Feb. 6.
With three games left in the conference portion of the schedule, the Chargers have an
11-0 mark and a 13-6 overall record.
MenoHARmonee Chorus seeking
new members
The MenoHARmonee Barbershop
Chorus was organized in 1962. The chorus
entertains twice annually at "Cabarets" at St.
James Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls.
The chorus sings at many local nursing
homes and have been a part of their activities for many years.
The chorus is presently seeking new
members who enjoy singing in the barbershop style. Tenors are especially needed.
If you are interested in joining the chorus,

7:00 pm at St. Paul's United Church of Christ

Hamilton High Schools DECA Chapter
is fighting a terrible disease by sponsoring a
fun event for children in the community.

the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA)
will be collected at the door.

Prior to the tour, Jason Koepp, a dual
academy graduate, told attendees he started with the pilot program for the academy,
which he described as the jump of life.
He said he finished his studies at WCTC
a year early and is now employed at TraceA-Matic.
This was a paid opportunity in my life.
It was a very quick start, he said.
He said classroom activities in high
school werent for me and said the dual
academy gives attendees a huge responsibility between completing school and doing
the college work.
The tour started with a presentation in
the welding and metal fabrication lab, with
Evers and Newson having the opportunity
to talk with Brookfield East student Zachary
Jaekl.
At the next stop Evers and Newson
were introduced to the tool and die/CNC
manufacturing area by Hamilton High
School student Hudson Byrne. Byrne said
he was sponsored by Trace-A-Matic, would
be done with college by next January and
will be working full-time by then. He later
explained that he has taken all the credits
he needs at Hamilton and will be walking
with his class at graduation in June.
The final stop on the tour was publishing and printing lab, in which faculty member Steve Swanson summarized the curriculum to Evers and Newson.

program are astounding and need to be
recognized.
Rood said she is now focused on
expanding the program both in terms of
what is offered through the academy at
WCTC and having the dual academy program in other areas of the state.

Girls basketball: Germantown wins share of North Shore title

The Germantown girls basketball team
outscored Nicolet 17-6 in the first quarter on
the way to a 67-20 win over the Knights Feb.
12. Taylor Higginbotham and Monica
Hubrich both led Germantown with 15
points each.
With the win, Germantown improved its

record to 18-3 overall and they clinched a
share of the North Shore Conference title.

Hamilton finished fifth at the Greater Metro
Conference meet held at West Allis Central
Feb. 6.
Winning titles for Menomonee Falls were
Austin Lasanske at 106, Bill Holz at 120,
Jerrot Holz at 132 and Tyler Simcock at 170.
Lasanske started the day with an 11-1
decision over Tom Dineen of Marquette in the
semifinal and won the title match with a 9-5
win over Dominic Dentino of Brookfield East.
Bill Holz started the day with a pin over Davin
Lewis of Brookfield Central and won his fourth
conference title in four years with 6-2 decision
over Tyus White of West Allis Central.
Jerrot Holz pinned Dylan Klemstein of
Hamilton in the semifinal. Holz was challenged early by Vincente Cardosa of West
Allis Central but turned it around for a pin at
1:12. Simcock pinned Dylan Allen of West
Allis Hale in the semifinal and won the conference title with a 4-0 decision over Ben
Sciortino of Hamilton.
Second place finishes for Menomonee
Falls came from Eric Wunsch at 113, Ben
Bonesho at 126, Zack Pogorzelski at 152,
and Nate Dantzler at 182. Fourth place finishes came from Will Genthe at 138, Andrew

Germantown finished second at the North
Shore Conference meet held Feb. 6.
Zack Szohr (106) and Waymon McNeal
won conference titles for Germantown. Szohr
started the day with a pin over Cooper Hunter
of Homestead and won a title with a 10-5
decision over Arturo Duran of Grafton.
McNeal pinned Logan Lamas of Grafton in
the semifinal, won a 9-0 major decision over
Manny Rosado of Port Washington and finished the day with a 9-3 decision over Josh
HIckey of Cedarburg.
Second place finishes for Germantown
came from Kevin Tamboli at 113 and Jimmy
Nguyen at 120. Finishing third for
Germantown was David Nilles at 285. Fourth
place finishes came from Mason Wheeler at
126, Anthony Brooks at 145, Tommy Nelson
at 152, and Devin Holt at 220.

Nick Peterson of Menomonee Falls

scored the first two goals for the Ice Bears as
the Bears defeated the Green Bay Gryphon
Feb. 7.
Peterson's first goal came at the 5:01
mark of the first period with assists from Zack
Fountain of West Bend East and Ben Herda
of Hamilton. His second goal came at the
7:05 mark of the period on an assist by
Trevor Herzberg of Germantown. Fountain
scored an unassisted goal with 3:30 left in
the second period while Theran Wanta of
West Bend West scored with under two minutes left in the period. Fountain scored two
more goals in the third period Herzberg and
Jack Neale also scored in the period.
With the win, the Ice Bears improved
their record to 7-14 overall. The Bears play
Grafton at the Ozaukee Ice Center at noon
Feb. 14.
The Ice Bears hockey team is comprised
of students from Germantown, Menomonee
Falls,Hamilton, Slinger, Hartford and West
Bend high schools.

Dear Dr. Winter, I have heard about some newer

dentures recently called CAD/CAM dentures. Do you do
these and what are the advantages of this type of denture?
Dear James, I have been at the forefront of denture
technology for many years and currently lecture about
denture technology to other dentists. In our office we
offer Deluxe Turbyfill dentures, CAD/CAM dentures
and standard economy dentures.
The differences between these types of dentures have
to do with the amount of time taken to make the dentures,
the processing technique and the quality and type of
denture teeth selected.
There are currently two types of CAD/CAM or
computer aided design and computer aided
manufacturing companies making dentures. One type of
denture the Dentca denture is an extremely accurately
fitting denture that can be fabricated in as few as two
visits. This technique involves taking a highly accurate
impression and bite registration at the first visit and then
at the second visit delivering the denture! An optional
try-in appointment is also available. These dentures are
beautiful and extremely accurate. The advantage of
milled dentures is that once the denture is designed it can
be remade in 2 days! The computer can simply print
another denture if one is ever lost. Patients must realize
that gum tissues can change so there may be a need to
reline a reprinted set or take a new impression if gum
changes have occurred. The material that is used to print
the dentures is non-porous and remains color stable
without incurring as much stain as traditional dentures as
well.
Turbyfill deluxe dentures can take 5-7 visits and
denture teeth are set with the patient present over a twohour appointment. These are highly characterized
beautiful dentures but now with a new computer
designed denture we can make dentures in far fewer
