Prologue
Captain, watch out! warned Stark.
Rogers dodge-rolled to the left, thigh muscles rippling as he avoided
the beam of the Infinity Gem in Lokis scepter. With a running start, Barton
slid across the bridge, sinewy arms easily seen in his sleeveless armored
suit, concurrently shooting off a round of explosive arrows. Loki easily
transfigurated out of harms way, firing back power beams in retort. Natasha,
having stealthily sneaked up behind Loki, leaped into the air towards him,
reaching for his scepter. Loki spun around with ease, voluminous dark hair
sweeping across his enthralling face, and hit her square in the gut with his
staff, sending her flying towards the edge of the under-repair Bifrost. Natasha
tumbled over the side of the bridge, grabbing the edge at the last second.
She began to lose hold, but was quickly raised up Banner, who had
transformed into his humanoid form.
The entire dilemma had started after Thor and Lokis return to Asgard.
Thor, having brought his brother home after Lokis stunt with the Chitauri,
planned to bring his brother to justice before his father. However, on their
way to the palace, Loki hypnotized one of the Asgardian guards escorting
him, a trick Loki had learned from the Mind Gem given to him by Thanos. The
guard had no chance against Lokis silver tongue, luxurious raven locks,
broad shoulders, dazzling emerald eyes, and marble-like sculpture of a face.
Loki escaped, reclaimed his scepter, and fled into the city. Thor contacted
SHIELD with a communication device Fury had given him back on Earth, and
the Avengers soon arrived, ready to recapture Loki and leave him to Odins
wrath. The Avengers found Loki waiting for them on the fragile, incomplete
Bifrost bridge connecting Midgard and Asgard, scepter in hand and a smile
on his face.

Is this the best you can do, brother? Loki teased with a malicious
grin. Or is my power too much for the God of Thunder and his pathetic team
of miscreants?
Overcome with rage, Thor soared into the air towards Loki, his hammer
raised above his head, cape unfurled behind him majestically.
NO, THOR. THE BRIDGE! Rodgers screamed with dismay, blue eyes
glistening with trepidation.
But Thor was not listening as he fell towards his brother, Mjolnirs shiny
head radiating with the charge of a thousand summoned lightning beams.
Loki dodged the attack and the hammers blow came down upon the delicate
Bifrost. The bridge emitted a flash of rainbow light as it began to crack from
the impact of Thors hammer. The Avengers sprinted towards the Asgard side
of the bridge, dodging holes as large chunks of the bridge fell into the vast
emptiness of space. Loki did not run, but remained in the center of the
crumbling bridge, laughing manically as he watched his foes flee towards
Asgard. They were about fifty meters away from the edge of the bridge when
the Bifrost finally gave way. The Avengers, along with Loki, tumbled
downward into space, thrashed with pieces of the Bifrost falling alongside
them. Banner roared with fury, grasping for the bridge that was no more.
That was when Stark noticed the massive dark hole they were swiftly
approaching. Stark fired up his rocket reserves, attempting to grab hold of
his teammates, but was too late; the Avengers, plus one deliciously evil
demigod, was swallowed by the dark mass.
The last thing Stark remembered as the darkness closed in around him
was the chilling echo of Lokis laugh and the lonely cry of distant wolves.
