Team Valve Repairs Step By Step

Disassembly

Safety is paramount to Team. When valve repairs

require disassembly, technicians f irst verify that the
valve is locked, tagged and tried. Where applicable,
valves are unplugged to release pressure, and drained.
Appropriate PPE is donned for line breaks, and the
valve is match-marked to allow for re-assembly of
components in the original conf iguration. Team
technicians then disassemble valves to the smallest
components and clean each part to allow for proper
visual, dimensional and NDE inspection, as necessary.

Inspection

All procedures for repair of conventional line valves

are drafted for compliance with API Recommended
Practice 621 (RP-621), which is the industry benchmark for repair of metallic-seated gate, globe and
check valves. Each and every component of a valve
is inspected for dimensional accuracy, surface f inish,
mating f it and mechanical integrity. Likewise, all
PRVs repair and testing is performed in accordance
with the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel
Inspectors (VR) program. Team holds Certif icate
Authorization No. 718 for shop and f ield.

Repair

When valve components do not pass inspection, they

are evaluated for repair or replacement. Teams valve
repair services staff are highly trained and qualif ied
for a variety of procedures. Certif ied Team technicians
are also available when welding, heat treating, f ield
machining and technical bolting are required to
provide any necessary drilling, facing, boring, honing,
turning, milling or grinding operations.

Assembly

Once repaired, conventional line valves are assembled

according to their original orientation, unless otherwise requested. Technicians verify seat contact, and
operate actuation at full stroke for all f ield repairs.
Valves repaired in the f ield are tested upon request,
while all shop repairs are tested in accordance with
industry standards. All PRVs repaired in the f ield are
tested upon assembly.

Documentation

As part of a large-scale Quality Management System,

Team maintains a Quality Manager website that serves
as a repository for documentation of all services.
Beyond appropriate valve repair forms, Team also
provides supplemental documentation for additional
details on welding, NDE, heat treating, machining
and alteration when applicable. Customers receive
a hard copy of their documents, as well as 24/7
access to the searchable Quality Manager database
for their reference.
