CSMC3805

Getting Started
The CSMC is a Microprocessor Compensator/
Optimiser with a full range of advanced features.
For ease of use Invensys have designed the
CSMC to be as simple as possible to program.
Before switching on the CSMC power check that
the battery is connected and that commissioning
has been completed (see DS 2.541A for details).
All Key code settings have a basic programme
as standard, which can be changed by the user if
required.
To initially configure the CSMC to control your
plant the following functions must be reviewed
and changed if necessary to meet your specific
requirements:
Note: If the time and date (function key 4) is left
unset the CSMC will remain in a suspended state
giving no output. This avoids unwanted outputs
occurring whilst the CSMC is being configured.

4
CSMC3805

Once the CSMC has been configured the time

and date should be set.
Compensator Key codes A00 to A08 (Also A09
to A12 if a dual compensator configuration is
used) (see pages 22 and 28).
Time, Date and Timeschedule Function keys 4
and 6 (see pages 9, 13 and 15).
The CSMC can be configured to control a number
of different types of application as follows:
Compensator/Optimiser, Single Loop,
HWS Timeschedule Output only.
Compensator/Optimiser, Single Loop, Boiler
Sequence Control, No HWS Output.
Compensator/Optimiser, Dual Compensator
Loop Control, No HWS or Boiler Output.
Compensator/Optimiser, Single Loop, HWS
Temperature/Time Controlled Output.
Optimiser Only, No Compensation Output,
HWS Time Schedule Output.

All other settings can be changed to the users

requirements at a later date, if required. The
record pages near the back of this User Guide
should be used to record any changes made to
settings for future reference.
To make the CSMC easier to understand the A
and B codes are arranged in five sections. The
main section covers the general key codes, and
the other sections cover each of the other
application specific key codes.
The CSMC is self adaptive on the compensation
ratios and the optimum on/off settings. If self
adaptive functions are not required they may be
individually cancelled by using Key codes A08,
B24 and B25 respectively.
Compensation loop 2 is not self-adaptive.

Day Extension & Weekend Mode

REVIEW : No Security
CHANGE : Low Security
Day Extension works in two ways. If requested
during an on period the days occupancy will be
extended by the time set in key code B00 (key
codes are detailed in a later section). If it is
requested out of an occupancy period the plant
will be brought on for a set amount of time as
determined by key code B01.
To select the day extension, or timed on period,
press function key 3. The display will show either
[ dE

period off.
The display will now show [ 0 6 ].

12
CSMC3805

Saturday and Sunday may be programmed in

three ways; as off, on or on once. If Saturday
or Sunday are programmed off then those days
will be omitted each week. If they are set to on
the days will obey the standard time programme
set. If they are set to once only they will obey
the programme set at the next weekend, but will
then reset themselves to off for subsequent
weekends.
[ 0 6 ] will be displayed, i.e. day 6 is off. Day 6
may now be programmed as follows:
[ 0 ] = off
[ 1 ] = on i.e. follow the timeschedules set
[ 2 ] = on once only then automatically resets
itself to 0
Press the appropriate numeric key followed by the
ENTER key and Sunday, day 7, will be displayed.
Programme Sunday in the same way as Saturday.

CSMC3805

Reviewing and Setting the A and B Key Codes

The A and B key codes are used to set the
compensator and optimiser parameters such as
temperatures, limits and ratios.
The A key codes are generally used for
compensation functions and the B keycodes for
optimiser and miscellaneous functions.
To make the CSMC easier to understand, the A
and B codes are arranged in five sections. The
main section covers the general key codes and
the other sections cover each of the other
application specific key codes.
Various security levels are required for specific
key codes but access always follows the method
outlined below.
Enter the appropriate security code followed by
the ENTER key. Press the A or B key followed by
the key code number to be reviewed or changed
followed by the ENTER key. The current value for

this key code will now be displayed and a new

value may be set followed by the ENTER key.
As with all programming, pressing the ENTER key
without amending the value leaves it unchanged.
A higher security level than that required will
always work.
The following pages show all the key codes giving
a brief description followed by the parameter
units, the setting range, the value initially
programmed into the CSMC and space to note
the actual value set if different from the default
programme. The security level required is also
shown.
For a full description of the operation of each code
see DS 2.541A. For Application Details see
DS 2.541B.

CAUTION
This device has a mains voltage supply. Local wiring regulations and usual safety precautions must be observed.
Ensure good earthing.

Do not mix phases on any of the controller inputs or outputs.

Before opening the controller to alter the switch settings, replace fuses or battery, first ensure ALL mains supplies
to and from the controller are correctly isolated as live terminals are exposed.

All relay outputs including the actuator output must use a common voltage i.e. 220/240Vac or 24Vac. Do not mix
voltages. This is required to prevent the possibility of flashover from the 220/240Vac to the 24Vac.

Do not switch on power supply until commissioning procedures have been carried out see page 1, DS 2.541A.
Observe wiring precautions on DS 2.541A.
This product contains a Lithium Chloride battery which is completely safe whilst in normal operation. Batteries
must be disposed of in an authorised landfill site.

Do not exceed the maximum ambient temperature see page 30.

Interference with parts under sealed covers invalidates guarantee.
Design and performance of Invensys equipment are subject to continual improvement and therefore liable to alteration
without notice.

Information is given for guidance only and Invensys do not accept responsibility for the selection and installation of its
products unless information has been given to the Company in writing relating to a specific application.

A periodic system and tuning check of the control system is recommended. Please contact your local Invensys Service
Office for details.
