THE STATEMENT OF SUPPORT OF THE INTERNATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL PILIPINAS


TO THE PROPOSED ANTI-POLITICAL DYNASTY BILL/S
FILED IN THE 16TH CONGRESS OF THE PHILIPPINES
The International Youth Council Pilipinas, a non-profit, national, youth-led organization dedicated in
advocating for policies relating to young Filipinos and in capacitating young Filipino leaders to become
policy reformists, analysts, and lobbyists for policies that are relating and concerning them.
One of the proposed measures filed in the 16th Congress of the Philippines is an Act Defining and
Prohibiting the Establishment of Political Dynasties or popularly known as the Anti-Political Dynasty
Bill/s filed by Senators Miriam Defensor-Santiago and Jose Victor Ejercito in the Senate and 1-SAGIP
Partylist Representative Erlinda Santiago, is a progressive and beneficial legislative measure that is
related to the youth development in the Philippines as it promotes equality, fairness, and democracy.
The International Youth Council Pilipinas fully supports the filed measure and shall continue to
monitor its progress in the Philippine Congress. Along with our officials, members, affiliate
organizations, and development partners, IYC-PH shall help in raising awareness against officials, groups,
or those planning to form political dynasties in the local or national offices of public service.
IYC-PH, together with the Anti-Political Dynasties Advocates, shall continue to advocate for a just, fair,
equal, and democratic process of representation in public service by helping enact a legislation that will
promote and enforce such. The Filipino youth shall and must not inherit the pervasive corruption and
abuse brought about by domination and manipulation of the few.

The International Youth Council (IYC) is an international civil society organization dedicated to giving young peoples across the
world both a collective voice and a mechanism to support global sustainable development. In 2007, the IYC was founded at
the 4th Annual Youth Assembly at the United Nations (YA@UN). The then alumni of the Youth Assembly formed the
International Youth Council to sustain efforts and communication between nations. IYC is present in 28 nations worldwide and is
a staunch supporter of human rights and equality. In 2012, IYC expanded in South East Asia, establishing the first ASEAN
chapter, in the Philippines.
