Management means different
things to different people in different
circumstances and at different times.
For practicing managers rather than
academics and linguists it is also a
seriously misleading question, as it
assumes that there is one right
definition
of
management
and
consequently one right way of being
an effective and competent manager.
Although many of the principles have
been adopted as good practice for
many years by managers in all kinds
of organization, it is less certain
whether they are still relevant today
given the complexity of the modern
managers role and the high-paced
environment in which most managers
now operate.
