1. What is internal PR?

(10 points)
Internal PR are the people employed by the Company which concentrates on
enhancing companies relationships with employees by facilitating good
communication between the management and its employees, boosting their morale
by providing right information in right time.
2. What are some considerations we should make, and strategies we should use in
internal PR to increase employee buy in to company initiatives? (20 points)
Employees have their own interpretation of every message they get from
Management as they fail to understand the logic behind any strategies made by
company management. As example when Management sends a message like
Workforce reduction or Budget Reducing plan, employees mostly misinterpret them
as thinking that they might lose their job or they will not get any salary increment.
Hence it is very much recommended that every organization have their own Internal
PR team who will understand the message a management wants to be delivered to
employees and decode them in shared common language understood by its
employee.
3. How do you think internal PR would vary between smaller organizations with a
relatively flat structure versus a larger organization with more layers of hierarchy?
(10 points)
It is always good to have an Internal PR team or people in your organization
irrespective of the size of it. As in where in a college with moderate number of
students and fairly several departments one can have a specific person as Public
relation point of contact who will serve as the medium for transporting messages,
informations from college management, Principal to specific departments and to
the students. So one or two person can really handle the task of PR but if you
consider a University where many colleges comes under it with a great number of
students studying under it who directly and indirectly depended on the college. In
this case we need a special department of PR who extensively will handle the
communication part across all the colleges under the University.
4. How would you handle internal PR to communicate to employees about a
workforce reduction and budget cuts? (20 points)
Communication is very much important when a Organization is sending across
message like Workforce Reduction and Reducing Budget as employees may
easily interpret as a layoff and feel the insecurity of losing their job. Hence we need
to communicate below points to establish a better communication with employee.

To clarify and explain the reasons for a change and how it is impacting organization and
them.
To describe the benefits of the change and the scopes this change will create.

To draw a picture of the new organization and make them understand the restructure.

To describe how the change will take place and how it is going to impact them.

To provide information on support and resources.

To explain their future in the companies.

Throughout the planning and implementation stages of a staff reduction, the most important
thing Internal PRs should do is to effectively and openly communicate with your staff.

Keep employees informed right from the beginning so that the layoff doesnt hinder any
anger among employees. .
Solicit their input and ideas on how to consolidate work.
Ask for suggestions regarding voluntary reductions in time or other suggestion for saving
money so that they feel engaged with the company.

5. In general, how would you advise your boss to build better relations with
important internal publics (employees, volunteers, donors, etc.)? (20 points)
Employee relations are the manner in which management addresses and interacts
with the staff to build better connections in the organization. Maintaining good
employee relations is every managers responsibility and that helps reduce
workplace conflict, raise employees morale and increase overall productivity. There
are ways that your company can improve employee relations and help to make your
workplace more efficient and constructive. Below are what I would like my Boss to
have in order to build a better relation with the employees.
Improve Communication A boss or manager should always send the
communications on the right time to right people. Manager should be honest with
their employees and share the correct information to them.
Career development A manager should take of their reportees career growth
and development. He should be open enough to average employee on the areas
they need to improve can make a development plan for them.
Share Views It is very important that a manager should share his views with his
team members and encourage or appreciate the team to help him achieving it.
Appreciate team members - A manager should always celebrate and cheer up
his team members which boost their moral to work even harder.
Challenge employees - Manager should challenge employees to keep the
interests up for work among the employees.

6. If your manager asked you about how to go about building a better team within
your organization, what advice would you offer? (20 points)
I would advise my manager to do the following.
Make sure the top team does just the work only it can do. Many top teams
struggle to find purpose and focus. Many times have found the employees have
committed a task which they failed to do in the end causing more troubles.
Address team dynamics and processes. A manager should be able to explain
the team about the team dynamics and process to achieve the desired output in the
best possible manner.
Manager should implement an effective and good Social Capital to have a good
binding with the employees and management.
Manager should always be willing to pay attention to employees problem and need
to have the intention of helping them to get rid out of it.
Celebrating Happiness with the team should always be a good option to a Manager.
When we celebrate our success it only increases the thirst among employees to do
even better.
