DESIGN OF A RESIDENTIAL BUILDING

ABSTRACT
Hyderabad is the fifth largest city in our country. As it is rapidly developing, the
construction in the city is very costly. Economic point of view if the building is
constructed at a far distance from the city it will be cheaper and residents can live
peaceful without any external polluted sources. Having a peaceful surroundings s the
main point of view of most of the people in todays lifestyle.

DESIGN OF WATER TANK

ABSTRACT
Storage reservoirs and overhead tank are used to store water, liquid petroleum,
petroleum products and similar liquids. The force analysis of the reservoirs or tanks is
about the same irrespective of the chemical nature of the product. All tanks are
designed as crack free structures to eliminate any leakage. This project gives in brief,
the theory behind the design of liquid retaining structure (circular water tank with flexible
and rigid base and rectangular underground water tank) using working stress method.
This report also includes computer subroutines to analyze and design circular water
tank with flexible and rigid base and rectangular underground water tank. The program
has been written as Macros in Microsoft Excel using Visual Basic programming
language. In the end, the programs are validated with the results of manual calculation
given in Concrete Structural book.

ROLE OF FLY ASH IN CONSTRUCTION

ABSTRACT
Fly ash is a fused residue of clay minerals present in coal. The high temperature
generated when coal burns in thermal power plants, transforms the clay minerals in coal
powder into a variety of fused fine particles of mainly aluminium silicate composition. Fly
ash can be used in Portland cement concrete to enhance the performance of the
concrete. Fly ash can be used for construction of road and embankment. This utilization
has many advantages over conventional methods. Fly ash is most commonly used as a
pozzolan in PCC applications

STUDY OF READY MIX CONCRETE

ABSTRACT
Ready-mix concrete (RMC) is a ready-to-use material, with predetermined mixture of
Cement, sand, aggregates and water. RMC is a type of concrete manufactured in a
factory According as per specifications of the customer, at a centrally located batching
Plant. It is then send or Delivered to a worksite, often in truck mixers capable of mixing
the ingredients of the concrete en route or just before delivery of the batch. This results
in a precise mixture, allowing Specialty concrete mixtures to be developed and
implemented on construction sites. The second Option available is to mix the concrete
at the batching plant and deliver the mixed concrete to the Site in an agitator tuck, which
keeps the mixed concrete in correct form. This project deals with the advantages,
disadvantages and the quality control in the preparation of the concrete, mix design of
M20 and the preparation procedure followed at the ready mix plant.

ROLE OF QUANTITY SURVEYING IN CONSTRUCTION

ABSTRACT
Quantity surveying is concerned with controlling and managing the construction
projects. Working with quantity surveying will give us an understanding of the technical
aspects of construction over the whole life of a building or facility, accommodate the
requirements of a building to suit the particular circumstances of a project, achieve the
best quality and value within the clients specifications and understand contracts,
budgets, quantities and measurements.
The aim of this study is to provide role of Quantity Surveying in the Construction
Industry to explain the measurement process in variation order, waste management and
preparing of the bills of quantities. Providing instruction in developing skills and logical
approach in measuring simple building works and provide a platform for further studies
in the measurement and pricing of building works. Choosing the right strategy is a
crucial step when pursuing a desired goal, this necessity applies to companies,
organizations, and individuals and as well research.

DEWATERING SOIL FOR USE AS AN EMERGENCY

CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL FOR DISASTER RECOVERY
ABSTRACT
The objective of this project is to investigate means to rapidly dewater fine grained soils
for immediate re-use as an emergency construction material. Dewatering using
polymers was the primary thrust of the project. Secondary efforts were related to the
use of geo-textile tubes and equipment such as clarifiers to expedite dewatering of fine
grained soil for immediate re-use as an emergency construction material.
The dewatered soils are to be stabilized with cementitious materials prior to use. Test
results indicate the approach is feasible, yet not the most practical approach for
development of an emergency construction material. The project focuses on the
emergency dewatering of contaminated sediments to be a more suitable application.
Factors leading to this decision were largely related to portable equipment availability
and polymer supply/demand in a disaster environment.
