New Scholarship supports ASB student from Sweden

We welcome David Forsberg to ASB as he begins his Master of

Financial Analysis degree. David comes to us from Sweden as the
recipient of the 2013 Hary & Liliana Tanoesoedibjo Scholarship.
This scholarship was established by the Tanoesoedibjo family to
support an international student to undertake a Masters degree at
ASB. It will help David fully participate in, and contribute to the ASB
and wider UNSW community.
Below, David shares with us why he chose to study at ASB and
plans for his future.
I have always known that when I grew up I wanted to work in something business related. Watching my dad and
my family friends run their own businesses, I was interested from a very young age in the idea of owning a
business when I was older. Throughout high school and my undergraduate degree, my interest in business,
specifically finance, continued to grow. My undergraduate degree gave me my first taste of what it would be like
to work in the finance industry, and ever since then, I have been determined to start my career in finance.
I chose to study at Australian School of Business due to the universitys reputation as one of the top universities
both in the Asia pacific region and worldwide and ASBs status as the leading business school in Australia The
location of ASB in Australia provided an exciting opportunity for me to undertake study in a country that is vastly
different to Sweden.
Outside of the Masters, I am especially excited to experience the Australian way of life. The weather is definitely
much better than in Sweden! I am excited to meet my fellow classmates as well as the teaching staff at ASB.
The scholarship will allow me to focus on my studies by easing my financial burden during the semester. It will
also allow me to engage in more activities, both within university and outside, during my year in Australia.
My sincere thanks to the Tanoesoedibjo family for making this possible.
As of yet, I have no specific plans following the Masters. I have previously worked for a short time in a finance
and accounting role, and I am definitely excited to further pursue a career in finance. As to where that might be, I
have yet to decide. Whether that is in Europe, Asia or Australia I will see where the future takes me!
